I just got my first M1 from the CMP. Late WWII vintage Springfield Armory Danish with a Var barrel. Its beautiful. The stock looks new with just a few storage dings. The handguards look original, much darker and with only a few minor dings. The metal is about 80-90% original finish and in great condition. All parts are SA except the barrel, obviously, and the bolt which is PB. It arrived in the BWT and on my porch on the anniversary of D day.

Consider yourself lucky...I was over at the jouster board, and read that the CMP has posted on it's website that they sold out of VAR barreled danes...Sounds like you got a good shooter!!

Yep, I read that too. I guess I got mine just in time. I'm really happy with it. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and take it to the range.
