The question is, did we get something right in the 1910's/20's that we're not getting right in 2010's, or have we just over-romanticized the gun and it's always been kinda shite?

Probably a little bit of both.

But kinda hard to argue that when sights fall off a new gun probably a MFG issue.

But going from select fire to Semi isn’t always seamless

Most of my NFA stuff is pretty run of the mill. The only things I have that even remotely qualify as “oddball” are these two SBRs:

That Skorpion looks awesome!  I bet it’s a blast to shoot.

No earthly need for that thing, but it would go great with my other SBR's

Biggest oddball thing it is a measly 32acp, but it is fun to shoot.

Also I paid FBTAFE $200, so I could put a little piece of wire on it, because it is a "stock."

If I could get this with a fun switch, I would.

Mine is engraved on the right side of the receiver above the trigger guard and in front of the D-Tecnik markings.

man I kick myself every time I see one of those scorpions! I should have bought one when they were cheap and available.

They're still only $600 or so, and still imported.

Czechpoint USA has what you need, four different calibers on offer these days, too! .22lr, .32acp, 380acp, and 9x18mm Makarov.

I’m tempted to get a 9x18 version and SBR it as well since I still have a spare wire stock and adapter hanging around.

I agree that the scorpion is one of the most fun sbr's to shoot especially suppressed.

I like mine. I'll always prefer the .32acp version for the metal mags, but I do enjoy both calibers.

The interesting thing (to me) is that the uppers can be swapped between lowers, as well... so if you can get hold of just the upper and bolt, you can use your SBR frame with any of the calibers.

I thought that was the case, but I wasn't sure what part the ATF calls the "firearm."  I'm glad to see it's the frame, like an AR lower receiver.

Yes, indeed. I have three "lowers", but I have more upper assemblies than that. Czechpoint even sells (at least) the .22lr upper/barrel/bolt as a conversion kit for existing owners.

I seem to remember them being under $400 and came with the leather holster, 2 or 3 mags (1 short and 1 or 2 long) wood grip ect...

Just get the Q Mini Fix, not the bastard wannabe. Especially once they come out with the 8.6 goodness.

Alternatively, another fun SBR I've always wanted to do is a VZ61 Scorpion, or it's slightly more common modern counterpart, the TP-9.

Probably the craziest thing I want to SBR though is a big-bore single shot. Something like a Ruger No.1 in say, .35 Whelen, but with a 12-14in barrel and a full mannlicher stock. A lever gun would work too, just not as hyped about those in general. It'd just be a crazy fun little woods gun.

I own a vz61 and SBRed it... its the most fun gun I have to shoot

I am torn between the PPS-43c to SBR, or one of these Scorpions.
I have ton of  9x18 ammo for a variety of pistol's.
I have zero Tokarev ammo for the PPS.

Decisions, Decisions.

I say both.

I have never really wanted a old school scorpion until seeing this thread and realized they make a 22 conversion for it.

Best I can do right now. I don't even have the shotgun back in my hands yet. The gun is with Josh at Cotton Branch Customs and he just snapped these pics for me today.
