You can get an old 5.5" flash hider they used for the old 11.5" ar15s. I had one a few years back and it worked nicely instead of a can with a 4.5" barrel .22.

Add the keymod handguard and just a little sticks out... 
For reference, the longest keymod surface measures 7-11/16" |

How do you figure? It's a rimfire upper. Plenty of rimfire suppressors that will fit under that hand guard. I did not know that. I have a .22 can in jail, but I was planning on hanging it on the front of a 16 inch Spikes .22 upper, and it never occurred to me that it'd be appreciably smaller enough to fit inside that diameter. I have 2 other cans for center fire, so I got used to the idea of a can being too snug a fit in that number. Thanks for the reality check.

When I had a 4.5" .22 upper w/ 7" rail, I used a Gemtech Outback INERT, ran me like $40.
