Can a 300BLK barrel be threaded 1/2x36 without making the threaded area too weak?

I have a XM177 type flash suppressor I want to use on a 300 BLK but the FS threads are 1/2x36 not the traditional 5/8x24.

Edited to say 5/8x24 not 5/8x34. Typing in the dark sucks.

Can you not drill and thread the flash suppressor to 5/8x24?

Anyway 9mm > .30 cal and that thread is used so it should be fine

The area where the threads are on the flash hider is almost 5/8" so the barrel has to machined smaller. The opening inside the flash hider is not the issue it's the small size of the area outside the threaded area on the flash hider.

How about a longer answer explaining why?

0.612-0.308=0.304 Roughly 0.150 thickness minus thread depth a bit over 1/8 inch material.
0.500-0.308=0.192 Roughly 0.096 thickness minus thread depth less than 3/32 inch material.

Is a .45 barrel on the edge of acceptability with a 5/8x24 muzzle thread?
