Thanks - keeps it simple but everything you need. This is becoming one of my favorite carbines. Ergonomics just work for me.

I have had one for about 15 years.  The 9mm 92 magazine version.

It does what it is supposed to, offers a 92 carbine companion.

I have a Sub2000 Kel-Tec in 40mm for my 96s.  It is not very durable.  It had to go back to repair the safety stuck on fire.  It was also having FTFs.  It runs great now, but every thing is flimsy.  It would not hold up banding around the back of an aircraft, Pandur, or Stryker, on mountains, climbing overs walls, etc.

The CX4 is more durable, but still flimsy compared to serious grade stuff.

I have an AK based PAK 9 that is similar.

I went to an AR9 based model to go with my 92s.

I put the PX insert and release in the CX4  and it lives in a bag with those pistols and magazines now.

It is probably more versatile than the 1980s combo

I put the glock magwell on the PAK, and it runs 100% and takes g26, g19, the 30 rounders etc.

There is rumor of a CZ type magwell for it but I have never seen one.

It now goes in the bag-o-glocks that includes a couple of Gen2 G19s, 17s, a 26, a Gen5 MOS, and a sub2000 that had to be cut down to take G19mags, and that was a stretch, no hope of using g26s in a pinch.

It would have been very interesting seeing a US manufactured version with a short barrel, brace, ruggeder innards, better trigger, normal height sights, and no need for a thumb hole or to leave the barrel unthreaded.

You sly bastard.

I could have sworn you went full Glock 10 years ago.

The Sub2000 can be cut down for compact 92 mags, like for G19 ones on the Glock version.

The crazy PAK 9 AK thing is good for compact mags out of the box.
As is the Wilson AR9.

In 92 mode or PX insert,
The CX4 only fits full sized magazines, no compact ones.

You can see how fully inserted a 92C mag is stopped and round not high enough and Mag not locked in.

92X Centurion or LTT Elite Centurion ?

Ha I consider myself handgun non-binary
While back I reacquired a 92FS the previous owner had sent to Wilson - what a find!
After shooting Glock for last 10 years or so my love for the old nutcracker sort of reborn with that gun. Back in the day (OIF I&II) we rocked those 92s with the Brigadier slides. Great guns…a couple of MidSouth trips I probably never shot better with a handgun.
Beretta why did you change the mag format with the PX4s!?? So many 92 mags in my stash.
My love for the Storm carbine has reinvigorated my affection for all things Beretta.
I am looking for one of these, without the rail. Seems like the best iteration yet.

I've had a Storm Carbine for the past 10 years or so.  Never really shot it much until about two years ago my wifey wanted to try it out and the only time I see it now is when she says "Honey - would you please clean my Storm"

Keep a mag-bag of seven Meg-Gar mags loaded at all times.  Never know when I might be away from home.  She took on vacation this year too !
Carbine had been 110% reliable with anything I can stuff in a mag.

A week ago the wifey saw a FDE Storm in a RK ad.  "Honey - do we need one of these !?!?!?"

Don't remember seeing this mentioned in this thread: Beretta CX4 "barrel shroud".

Certainly seen online; it's more of an aesthetic thing done to cover the barrel - so naked - extending without a flash hider or anything, really.
So several people over the years used one.

The one you see is an actual - uber rare - Beretta CX4 barrel shroud with Beretta logo (logo not visible in this picture).

I think the barrel shroud truly adds something desirable. The slight additional weight on the front of the gun helps further mitigate the already faint perceived recoil.

There was a mention in passing in a post above about a connection with the Russian military or police or somebody using the Beretta rifle - can anybody explain that further?

It is kind of intriguing as I don't recall the Russians being big on importing and using another country's firearms unless they had been re-engineered and turned into something similar but Russianish by the time it is issued by anybody.

Beretta had a huge contract with India to supply them with full auto mx4's (look same as cx4).

This contract was allegedly the reason cx4's were hard to locate for several years.

Some discussions elsewhere and the recent thread in GD (which had a link to this one) has re-invigorated my interest in my CX4. I bought it from Botach (and actually got it!) in 2015 for $599 shipped. My local dealer said that was better than his cost at the time.

As 5thLegion mentioned on a previous page, the Mec-Gar 20rd mags are great for the CX4. They are actually Mec-Gar's 18rd Beretta mag with a +2 floorplate, which adds just over 1/2" to the length of the grip. The butt stock mag pouch shown earlier in the thread is the Desantis Storm Packer and will work with the Mec-Gar mags, but not with the factory 30s. Easy way to carry an additional 40rds with the gun.

I added the BSG style barrel shroud from MFI to mine just to hide the long naked barrel. The factory shroud looks good also, but IIRC the rifle won't fit into the hard case with it installed if that's a concern. Now that I have a few Form 1s behind me, I may see about chopping it to a more reasonable length and having it threaded.

Just adding a pic to this thread…

I’ve had these since somewhere between’04 - ‘07. I’ve been through a few barrel shroud options which are the only changes from the original setup. I changed to the BSG ones a few years ago. Dual charging handles. One set up left eject and one set up right.

Thousands of problem free rounds through them. All stock internals.

The biggest problem is battery drain from leaving the optics on. I should probably update them, but to what?

I finally got home to handle my CX4. It really surprises me how much more compact it is in the hands than it looks in pictures.

Might not get a chance to shoot it while I'm here but I took a picture for you guys anyway.

I didn’t realize the Beretta marked shrouds (the middle) were uncommon.

I preferred the fit of the aftermarket (on the left) and used those until I went with the BSG look.

Not in my experience. The Beretta is a real, usable carbine.  The Sub2K is a POS, whose only virtue is the fact it folds.  If it didn't, nobody would touch it.

Has anyone seen a slip over suppressor? One that works standard 1/2x28.

Threaded my CX4 with a local outfit in DFW after I bought the Sierra Papa upgrades. Currently have an Aero VG6 Epsilon muzzle brake on the barrel.

Unfortunately haven't been able to try out the upgrades to the CX4 due to being in Army Warrant Officer training since the summer.

Figured having a suppressor that can go over the exposed barrel would be a good use of space. Rather not go thru the hassle of SBRing the CX4 to chop a few inches off.

I am shocked to see you are the first person to say this. I'm  blown away when people say it shoots soft. I had a CX4 storm for the shortest time I've ever owned any gun because I've never had something that recoiled that harshly. It's the only gun I gave to the deal in trade in my life because I just wanted it gone ASAP.

I've had guns in 308 I that were far more pleasant to shoot. I thought maybe it was just me and the way it fits my body type/size but there was 2 other people at the range when I first fired it and I asked them to shoot it without prepping them at all and the first thing both of them said was "I know it's just a 9mm but that thing is unpleasant."

I don't know if it was the massive bolt or something else about the design but it recoiled harder than it had any reason to. It was like Beretta found some way to add recoil to a 9mm; it defied the laws of physics.

It's now the reason I refuse to trust certain youtube review channels.

Many of the blowback 9mms have a kind of “slappy” recoil impulse. It’s not like painful some big magnum handgun or rifle, but it’s kind of jarring. Like getting a flat-handed slap compared to a punch in the face.

Honestly the recoil on my Storm is not bad at all, slightly higher than an AR in 5.56, not quite an AK. My kids and wife shoot it without issue. In fact they love it.
Comparing a Storm to .308 is laughable.
