Hello everyone,

just got a used SR9 A2 (euro version) and while trying to find more info found this forum. It's got the reciprocating charging handle and keymod instead of Mlok.

Been spending some hours reading through all these pages ! I didn't quite get all the brace stuff at first, now I think I understand. In the Netherlands we also have some similar laws, with my particular Stribog version it means that the folding stock is fixed with a rollpin to keep it from folding. I really like all the mods being done by all of you here, a lot of stuff is hard to get here. Silencers are not permitted here, for instance.

I'm saving for an EOTECH, hopefully the green reticle will find it's way to Europe soon. Could any of you advice me on a light? I have a dealer close by who sells Olight, is it considered a good reputation brand?

Hi Bob,

Olight is a good brand of light, for sure.
Mine stribog also must be with fixed stock due to short barrel (54 cm without stock < 60 cm ) but at least, suppressor are authorized in France! I'm looking for suppressor for 9x19 with thread of M15x100. This is the thread delivered in Europe I assume, instead of 1/2x28 as US....  I don't know if B&T can deliver Rotex with M15x100. Ase Utra doesn't make supressor for pistol....

I would try Stalon of Sweden for a nice suppressor, they look great, thread is M15x1 (must say I measured with tape measure, not calipers)

found this list online: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/03/21/iwa-2018-european-suppressor-overview/

Thanks for link, I didn't know them. However, M15x1 is not available or I don't  find...

We recently changed out export regs to be more reasonable; you might try contacting those companies to see if they can help you through a distributor

Is is even worth it to buy the Gen 2 Stribog or should I wait for the roller delayed model? Found them in stock for $659 delivered for the no brace model... Side note, I've never shot a blowback PCC but it would be suppressed 99.9% of the time.

New mags are in! Quality of the plastic used is much better. This applies to the case and follower. That red follower looks cool tho. Also the steel reinforced mags fall free easily, thats not the case with the all plastic 30 round mags.

Can't wait to try them on the range. But I'm afraid we have to keep the range closed until further notice from our government.

Lets settle at different then ;)
I think the used material for the stock doesn't live up to the finish of the actual firearm. Also it is not adjustable in any way. I'm looking for a nice ACR or Zhukov stock. I think both looks great on the bog.

Hopefully they fix that follower problem before they bring them to the US.

I wonder if you can use the follower from the first gen mag. I also think I'm missing something regarding the reason for the follower replacement.
Most of the previous gen mag issues had to do with the feed lips and base plates right? Why did they feel the need to replace the original follower?

ETA: Just enlarged DeOtter's side by side photo of the followers and they don't look backwards compatible.

It definitely explains the issue with the loose crimps, but as it turns out, the FTFs are another story entirely: my Stribog is unseating magazines while firing!

After trying numerous types of ammo in it this past weekend, I discovered that every time it fails to feed or outright jams, I can grab the magazine and pull it free without hitting the magazine release. Here's a video of it demonstrated with snap caps: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u-s-S8f1y7b3rBYx7K964RpUzAbKytGC/view?usp=sharing

It happens with all 4 of my magazines, so I'm thinking it's not a magazine issue. Global Ordnance is sending me another recoil spring to try; I'll post an update after I receive that.

I ran another 150 rounds through my stribog yesterday. Overall real good, but 2 failures.

It is the same failure as always. I used to call them stovepipes, but it is a bit of a modified stovepipe.

The empty extracts but doesn't fully eject. The bolt tries to load a new round, but smashes the empty in between the bolt and the ejection port. Crunches the shit out of the case mouth of the empty.

One even wedged a piece of the open end of the brass in the tiny space between the exterior of the barrel and the inside of the receiver wall. I had to bend the case back and fourth until it snapped off.

It was no big deal. I will change to the lighter recoil spring next week and see if those failures go away.

Still love it.

@DeOtter : nice to have !  what is the price on your side for the metal mag? here in France it's announced to 40 € each 30 rounds.

The gunsmith should have them in few days. If they drop freely , that's nice...

You can come to France to try them, Shooting range opened the 18th of May, 2 of june for mine...

Finally cleaned my Stribog. While I was as it. I also replaced the super heavy spring with the new lighter one.

Hopefully that will eliminate my 1 failure to fully eject that I was getting about 1 every other mag.

Should be able to get out again this week.

What are you using for a replacement spring and where did you source it?

I am thinking that this might be my issue suppressed FTF so was curious how people are doing with spring weights and where they are getting them.

I believe it was right from Global. It is an updated lighter factory spring that they were sending out to those that were having issues.

I paid € 37,50 each. They drop very easily, which I like very much. I hope the followers will hold up and the example of the cracked one is just a unique issue.

Going to France to test the mags is not an option, as I have to arrange multiple permits to cross borders. And it's a long drive. We are scheduled to open doors to our range at july 1st. In the meantime we have to figure out how to obey COVID regulations.

@N_Parker: in Western Europe we pay huge amounts of taxes. And possession of firearms is heavily regulated (at least here in The Netherlands) and discouraged. As for the Stribog: I had to sign up for a specific gun club to be able to own one. So you can imagine that the market for firearms is a very small nichemarket. Everything is distributed in very low numbers so prices are sky rocketing. For example: I paid $1240 for the bog.

I have been a couple of times in the USA. Last year I visited the south west. I have been dreaming about it, but never seriously considered to move. Maybe someday it will happen :)
But for now I have to deal with the extensive Dutch restrictions and regulations. Europeans just do not have the urge to own firearms as you guys do. I am frowned upon when telling someone I shoot guns
