Does anyone make a lever action rifle in 45-70 with at least a 22" barrel that doesn't have a brass receiver like the Henry? Case hardened would be preferred but I would take blue if that's all there is. I have a Uberti in 44-40 with the case hardened receiver and it's beautiful. Thanks.

Take a look at the Marlin website.  The 1895CB may be what you seek.

I have one of the newer Marlins with a 22" barrel. I like it.

Check them out for yourself.

It sure is and is 3 times more than my Marlin 1895 was.

Winchester makes the 1886 Short Rifle.  I have one that I bought last year.  It has a blued steel receiver and a 24" barrel.  The only issue is they are not cheap rifles, and when you get one in person it definitely feels like a quality gun.

TSS has one in stock (this is where I bought mine).

The only issue is they're limited production so most of the time they're very, very hard to find in stock.  When I got mine I was waiting for one and couldn't find them and was about to just order a Model 94 in 30-30 then I reluctantly ran across TSS who had a 1886.

The Marlin, or "Remlin" 1895 standard model has a 22" barrel, 4+1 capacity, pistol grip configuration, and can be had without breaking the bank.

I acquired mine August of last year in the Walmart clearance, and have been very happy with it.

Henry also makes a version with a steel receiver.

Marlin 1895 Cowboy is sweet. Works great every time. It even got me into reloading.

Look around for a Browning 1886 carbine 22" very solid and handy too.
