I want a PTZ camera but want it to be under $200.  Does anyone  have any experience with this camera?

I just built my Blue Iris (was going to use Genius Vision but that is another story) and am happy with the 9 Hikvision cameras I have so far.  I just want to add a couple of PTZ's to the stable.

I have never used Reolink before though.

The Reolink's have been getting good reviews.  When I get the money I'm going with a Reolink system.

I have seen good things as well but have never personally used a Reolink.

I may take the plunge as they appear to be disappearing for some reason.  I don't want them to be discontinued before I can grab one.

I thought it was mentioned some where in here that they are due to come out with 5mp cameras soon.  Might want to investigate that.

I will check that out.  Thanks for the tip!

Hopefully they get the auto-focus sped up too as that is the one complaint I see with this model.

Here is a link with some of the new model information.

I am torn on waiting or not though as I don't really need 5MP for my use when I can get the 4MP version for $180 right now.

The only thing that concerns me is Reolink's 8192Kbps max bitrate on these cameras.  At 5MP that seems way to low to me since my Hikvision's can record at 12288Kbps for 1080P (2.1MP).....thoughts?

Here is a site about camera bitrate's.

I don't have either that camera or the 423/PTZ, but I do have the 5mp camera coming my way, it just got into NY yesterday.

I can't speak anything but praises about Reolink. I started a thread about a month ago with info on the 5mp stuff, and will update once I get the 5mp camera in hand, and have some time with it. As for the bitrate, I personally have not noticed any lag or problems at all.

Do you know for sure that this will be going on sale?  I'm hoping to pick up a two bullet, two dome kit as well.

I found it yesterday on the app, but I’m not seeing it today either. However, it still says I’m watching it so I guess it’s still on...

It looks like between yesterday and today they’ve limited how far ahead it shows the deals (at least for me). I could scroll all the way through Thanksgiving yesterday to see upcoming deals. Now it’s only showing 4 hours in advance (at least when I filter for electronics).

I’ll keep this thread posted when it’s showing for me (getting close).

It’s showing up now. Deal starts at 12:20pm today (central).

I just noticed in the specs that this camera is out of consideration for most people in colder climates along with many of their other cameras.

It is only rated down to 14F which is nowhere near good enough for Nebraska.

Most Hikvision cameras are rated to -22F from what I am seeing.

Bummer

Didn’t notice that. That stinks for you northern folks (I live in Mississippi).

It sure does.

All of their cameras appear to be that way that I have seen.

I don't have the ptz. But My reolink bullets and domes have spent extended time hoovering around 0F. As in weeks at a time. No issues.

Maybe you could knit little sweaters for them.

0F may be fine but we get below that frequently in the winter with wind chills sometimes hitting -25F or worse.  I just don't want to spend $200 on a camera that isn't rated for our weather conditions here.

Cameras don’t care about wind chill... Absolute temp is what matters...

Good to know.  I figured if they were exposed directly to the wind that it would matter.

I learned something new today

I'm averaging. You may get a little colder but  not much. That wind chill isn't unheard of here. Days in single digits aren't anything special with actual temps dipping below 0 at night. I live on top of a ridge at the confluence of two rivers. 40mph sustained winds throughout winter.

I don't think the cold will effect the cameras. I'm not sure how exactly the temperature will effect them.

In your case though I'm pretty sure the cameras are proprietary to reolink. I'm not positive but I haven't heard of anyone running them on blue iris

Blue Iris is gtg according to Reolink  Pretty much as long as the camera is ONVIF compatible you can run them on any of the major DVR software out there.

Good to know.

Looking at reolinks web site they have a section on cold weather. It say does say the bullet is thier most robust cold weather performer and should be good for southern Alberta Canada. I dunno know if Alberta is warmer than the other parts of Canada but in general I would think the further north you go
the colder???

I'm using a RLC-423 with a Reolink NVR. It works great. The only real complaint I have is I wish it had greater zoom capabilities, but considering how well the camera works, it's definitely not a dealbreaker.

I wound up getting a Hikvision DS-2DE3304W-DE to try out.  It doesn't have IR but it has excellent low light visibility it appears and is rated down to -22F.  It was 16F here last night and it isn't even December.

I may wind up adding an IR illuminator but we will see how it goes without it.

Skip to 9:00 to see some time lapse footage.
