How does concrete block reinforced with concrete compare to concrete poured walls in terms of strength?

In some cases they could be equal or either could be stronger/weaker. Concrete/cement comes in many different (infinite) forms and the strength is also dependent on reinforcement design, size, spacing, etc. Ultimately a poured wall of the same thickness can be made stronger than stacked block. But strength, it relative to the type of load/force that you are using to analyze it against. |

Few Comments and questions.
1) I see you are a firm believer in 2 is 1, and 1 is none.. lol you have 2 of everything 2) How do you open the secret door from the inside if it closes behind you? Is the magnetic swipe thing accessible from both sides of the secret door? 3) What fun explosives are in the Red 40mm box labeled 1.4? |

TIA View Quote The electromagnet was rated at some crazy amount - like 1500 pounds - You are not going to pull it apart without a winch or something - you'd bend the frame first. There is a HUGE RV battery in the room (Like 4 car battery sized) that powers the LED lighting and the HAM radios, we tapped into that for the electromagnet circuit so the outer door would stay secure in a power outage. Power goes from the battery to a small timer circuit that has an output for the electromagnet and an input for a switch. The delay is set to ~ 5 seconds so when the switch is activated, the electromagnet is powered off for ~5 sec. There is a magnetic reed switch hidden behind the pegboard (Think alarm system contact) and when you swipe a magnet by it, the timer will turn the electromagnet off for about 5 sec. |

View Quote Yeah - I am one of 2 boys - My dad always says the 2 is 1 and 1 is none thing too :) I think it's an Army thing :) He always says that the real reason is so that when he's gone me and my brother can split everything pretty evenly. There is a small black box he mounted on the door frame that has a switch that opens the outer door if you are inside with it closed. At one time it was used for storage of APCP but now all we have is 2 cans of black powder for some old stuff my grandpa left dad. |

You got me off my ass to order some Gallow Tech stuff and im shameless stealing some of your other ideas. The engine hoist has me excited though. My doors just been sitting on the floor waiting on me to find enough guys to lift it up. This should cut down on the man labor a good bit. |

We love the Gallowtech stuff and the fact that they had gray was even better - We went with Black / Gray in just about everything,
The engine hoist was fantastic - The AMSEC door had to be taken off the hinges to mount and level the frame, we had a bunch of people over, but could have done it with just 2. People were actually in the way a lot, but it was better to have 'em and not need 'em than need 'em and not have 'em |

I'd add some more pegboard, so the one single piece in the room isn't standing out as door-size and in a door's orientation/configuration. Maybe add a long, skinny horizontal row on top of the shelf brackets you already have right above the door- even that would make that one piece you have blend in more and wouldn't require moving or changing anything else. I use some hidden doors in my own home, and it has made me very conscious of door-like shapes and sizes in layouts, especially where they are one-of-a-kind features. Some badguys might pick up on that in a flash as well. View Quote Good suggestion TAP |

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I've had that for a while I believe I got it at Sam's club several years ago. 2000lbs per shelf. It is a wired shelf so I got so thin board to put on top of it (the stuff in the pegboard isle but no holes). http://www.samsclub.com/sams/welded-rack-3-level/prod13130203.ip?navAction= |

I have seen similar shelving units at my local Home Depot. Don't know if they are rated that high, but I was looking for garage organization and remember seeing one that looked similar.
