Just made a trade for a new MPX 8 inch pistol model and it came with 1 mag.  Looks like PSA has some 20 rounders on sale for $20 but they are probably the gen 1 mags.  Am I right that they should work ok in a gen 2 even though Sigs website says they will have feeding issues?

Gonna have to pay for Gen 2s.  Prepper Gun Shop tends to have sales on them.

I've run gen 1 magazines (9 different ones) in my gen 2 gun without issue so far.

Sig store had Gen 1 20rd mags on sale $8:99!!!!!  For that price you can tinker with them if not reliable who cares.

Same here.  I didn't think that anyone had issues with gen 1 mags in gen 2 guns.

Gen 1 mags work in my Gen 2, as long as I load it to 27 or 28 rounds.  Keep an eye out at Sig, Gunmagwarehouse.com, and Palmetto State.  I have picked up Gen 2 for $19.99 each when they have specials.

I've done it.   Hold like 24 I think, depending on how much you trim and force rounds

All my mags except the ones it came with are gen 1 mags in a gen 2 gun.  Never had an issue.

Thanks everyone, seems to be a mix mostly leaning towards the positive results.  I went ahead and ordered two Gen 1 mags that are on sale on the Sig website to try out. Finally got to shoot it some Sunday and I am super happy I got it in a trade.  Now I just need to find a red dot sight for it.

I only have 17 magazines with roughly half of them being Gen 1's, and they run as reliable as Gen 2 magazines. In other words I have had zero malfunctions with any MPX magazines regardless of generation. *

*I posted this response in other thread, and since it's applicable in this thread I thought I'd repost it.

I have a gen 2 and a mixed assortment of mag gens and they all run fine.  I have several more at the house from the sale Sig has going on but I have no idea what gen they are.  I didn't even look since mine runs both equally well.

I went ahead and ordered a few more of the gen1 mags. So far the gen1's I have used in my gen 2 have been fine. I got 5 20's and 3 30's for $120 to my door.

Thanks for posting the deal to the Sig store. Just picked up ten 20 rounders and six 30 rounders for 203 delivered. Now I should have ten 20 & 30 rounders.

Hope you have better luck on shipping from Sig than I have so far.  They shipped Fedex "Smartpost" and it will be 2 weeks from the time they shipped it to the time it finally delivers next week.

I'm sure it will take a while but I'm ok waiting. In no rush. I can't really complain about free shipping.

I have both Gen1 and Gen2.

So far no issues with either but I've only shot a hundred or so rounds thru the Gen1 mags.
I've put approx. 900 to 1000 thru the three Gen2 I have.

Get both, keep the cheap Gen1 for plinking if they give you issues.

Gen2 for serious work, defense, matches etc.

I own a Gen1 pistol I SBR'd and it works 100% with both generations of magazines. Buy a bunch of Gen 1's and you're set. A reliable $20 magazine is much better than a reliable $60 magazine.

Received my (24) 20 rounders today and 24 rounds works.
I can get a 25th round in but I can't charge the firearm from a closed bolt, the spring can only compact so much in a finite area.

I use mainly Gen 2 mags and they run flawless.

That said, I do have three Gen 1 mags and they are hit or miss. Sometimes they run flawless. Other times I get a jam once or twice a mag. Though, they seem to get more reliable the more I use them. Didn't have any jams the last range trip.

I tend to stick with the Gen II.

Just another data point. I went to the range tonight and used only gen1 mags including a 20 with the base plate cut to make it a 24. All mags ran without any issues at all in my gen2. Those who are on the fence I would suggest getting a few before they are gone.
