Installed one of the LoaderTools Rock Chucker Primer Catchers and deprimed about 200 9mm this afternoon. Catcher worked perfectly and now all the spent primers go straight to a 2 liter bottle under the bench.

I had grand plans today.  But work tried to beat me down, and a cat (that I'm otherwise really fond of) found a way to get onto a utility room shelf and knock off almost everything - that everything being tools and a bunch of household maintenance and repair items - to the floor.  So my tired tail had enough go to pick stuff up and gather it into a laundry basket for review and proper storage, and put that basket out of cats' reach.  Where?  My loading room, of course.  It's the only room we keep cats (and dogs) out of; an armed cat is a scary thing!

This is "crazy like a fox," because the basket is in my way, and I'll have to work through it to get to doing any loading.  We'll see how that works for me.

Loaded 500 9mm target rounds (124gr FMJ)

Wet tumbled two loads of brass.

Ordered 4lbs N340, and a pound each of Silhouette and Zip.

Organized my reloading space some more - needed additional space.

Got my new Dillon Super Swage up and going.  Ran ~900 pieces of 9mm thorugh it.  Man I love that thing!

I've been wet tumbling using a Harbor Freight rock tumbler with a PVC pipe drum for a couple of years now just doing small batches of rifle brass and still tumbling my pistol brass with walnut. I picked up a Frankford Arsenal rotary tumbler this week and did my first small batch of brass to try it out tonight.

The picture doesn't do justice to how clean and shinny the brass

I'm jealous!

I tested loads for my 8 year old daughter's TC Venture Compact in 223 today. I found the accuracy node and need to reload more. I should have her practicing next weekend in preparation for the youth rifle season in 3 weeks.

Today......... I just found this section and thread. I look forward to reading every page. New reloader here and I have yet to know what I don't know. I am getting good results with the help of other members. Reloading is very relaxing after a bad day at work. I have a couple of pig butts cooking, and will have a house full of people soon.

Loaded ten rounds of .44 Magnum for a friend with a Desert Eagle.  Sierra 210 grain JHC (#8620) over 22 grains of Lil' Gun and Winchester WLP primers.  1554 fps average with no pressure signs out of my 7.5" Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk.  Test was done at 6,000 feet with an OAT of 78 degrees.  I have no idea what the barometer was reading.  The cedar tree backstop didn't stand a chance.  I have ten rounds loaded with the same powder charge and primer, but a 210 gr Speer Gold Dot that I need to run through the Chrony.  My only comment is, "OW!"  I don't really enjoy shooting high power .44 Mags, but for a friend I'll put up with the wrist pain.

I'm going to have him try them in his Desert Eagle before I load a bunch of them.

I also loaded 250 rounds of 115 gr FMJ 9mm for plinking.

Loaded up the last (350) of my Hornady 55gr FMJ's over some TAC tonight. When I went to verify my previous load data, I saw that the last time I loaded any rifle cartridges was January of 2016. I am going to have to work on that.

De-boxed and checked an order containing my first 5 pounds of H4350, and other stuff. I have been using Varget and 4064 with good results. 2 gallons of my own once fired Hornady 6.5 cm to clean prior to neck sizing today. Seems like a reasonable goal what with a noon kick off.

Reset up my lee loadmaster in 300 black out. Ran 25 rounds semi flawlessly to ensure it functioned. Tumbled 300 Once fired and mil crimped black out brass. Mil crimp sucks to remove by hand, so I chucked up the primer pocket swager from my Lyman hand tool, into my drill. So much easier. Did I mention mil crimp sucks.

Today I started tumbling some .38 brass.

In the last few weeks leading up to this tumbling I shot 2 weeks in Albuquerque, using only my ammo 25 yards and in, factory ammo from the 50. I found that my most recent 9mm test load of a Hornady 125gr HAP and 4.5 gr VV N320 shoots really well, so well I shot it in the Off-duty match and unintentionally bumped myself into the High Master class with a 3" 1911.  Also collected quite a bit of brass during two weeks of shooting.

On my way home I stopped in one of my regular shops along my way and scored a nice new 8 pounder of BullsEye.  I'm once again set for several years of .38 Special loading.

After getting home I spent the last week sorting all the brass from the 2 weeks of shooting.  I have one 5 gallon bucket of once fired 9mm Starline brass, one bucket of once reloaded 9mm Starline brass, a bucket of Federal .38 plus a large box of .38 Starline and a second box of .38 Precision brass (Starline and Precision are for SWC loads only and Federal for WC). After getting everything sorted I had 4 full buckets of trash brass ready for the recycler, right at 200 pounds of brass. Not too bad for 6 months of shooting and collecting brass, I think I got about $1.25 / lb.

Installed my old reloading table in my work office. We have been separated from each other since 2009.

I have had my reloading stuff in my office since then but mounted on a old office desk. I have acquired some more presses and have started to run out of room. Got a bigger office than were I was originally located at. Bought a HF table and wasn't happy with it. It tended to wobble when using the mec 600s. So in the weeks to come I will be setting everything up the way I want it. Everything is a mess on the old reloading bench because I had to rearrange everything in my office to get the new table in. Waiting on the lee quick change press system to set the bench up.

FINALLY found a load I can live with for both my 5.56AR and .308AR.. Best I'd been able to get before was occasionally about 7/8" at 100 with my reloads.. now consistently getting .5-.6" 5-shot groups!

For the 5.56 I pretty much duplicated the speed of the Hornady Varmint Express, 55gr A-max since I was getting my best groups with them.  They were going ~2808fps from my 16.5".  I used Z-max and matched that speed with Varget.  Last group was 4 shots at .31MOA with the 5th putting it at .54MOA at 184yds.

The .308 is with a 110gr A-max going 2820fps average (yes, faster than the 5,56 ;).  Dropped last 5 in just barely over 1" at 184yds.

Call me stoked!

Ran some 7.62x39 loaded with CFE BLK through a middy upper I just built. It didn't run right.

Either the pressure curve is odd on this stuff or the gas port needs opened up.

I was in a hurry and only took the hand loads.

I just finished de-capping a 3 lb. coffee can of 223. My back hurts. What is that, about 400 or so? I lost count about 150 in.

Thoughts on "small base" vs "standard" dies....?

223 is a new round (to reload) for me. I am shooting it through 2 ar's. 1/9 twist.
I can save...., well, I like to reload. I am in my reloader rookie year, (quarter actually).

Update.

Had nothing to do with the powder or gas port. The extremely aggressive tooth on the extractor was actually not allowing brass cases to be ejected. It was holding on to them and trying to load the next round. Steel ejected fine. Messed with a spare bolt and the problem became obvious. The cursory explanation I came up with last night was short stroking.

That's a new one to me!

CFE BLK was shooting sub MOA at 100 yards using 29gr. under a 123 gr. HRN V-Max in a PPU case with a CCI BR-2 primer. APPX 2400 FPS out of a 16" barreled AR.

Sorting and cleaning brass for the start of the fall reloading season.  Too darn hot/humid to be in the garage in the summer unless I have to work on a car.  That sweat dripping off me and running down my arms/hands is hard on the brass.

Tested out the Mighty Armory Decapping die on about 150 rounds of .40. I bought this to test swaging with, but all my crimped brass has already been swaged, so I figured I would give the decapper a go. Overall, pretty happy with the decapping portion so far.
