I SBR'ed my GSG522 awhile back.

I want to know if there is a way to convert it to a GSG522pk

I have the original carbine barrel.  I'm thinking of cutting it down, getting a new front end (cocking tube, front sight, handguard, etc.

It wouldn't be a permanent change, so it would still be legal.

Thoughts?

My first issue would be where to get the parts.

Christopher,  nobody has the cocking tube in stock.

Does ATI have them for sale?

Now that I have this idea in my head, I'm pretty desperate.

It's possible, assuming you can find the forward parts.

I SBR'd my GSG-5 carbine using a pistol barrel from ATI.

I bought one of the now-hard-to-find PK conversion kits.  I swap back and forth as the mood strikes me.

In order to convert, you need:

To convert to the PK front end, you would need:

The cocking tube assembly
4.5" Threaded barrel
PK Hand guard
Some kind of muzzle device threaded to the barrel.

If I had to do it today, I'd find a GSG-5PK and cannibalize it.

Thanks for the insight.

Do I need a threaded barrel? Is the front sight post threaded internally like on the other version?

I have my carbine barrel that I was just going to cut and crown.

Yes, the barrel is threaded, unlike the pistol/carbine setup.

Here's really good video that outlines the differences.

You can see the threads on the fake suppressor and the pistol flash hider are threaded on the outside, as the barrel is not threaded, and the PK barrel is threaded.

Video does a good job of explaining; of course, the challenge is finding the adapters.

Hope this helps.
