Erm.

None of these are great.

I thought they started making them in CTS XHP or 3v

Those were the only three options I saw.

3v Model.

3v is way better than the other three steels.

Of the steels you listed, VG-10 isn't bad at all; it's just not great.  It's in the same class as 154cm:  It's definitely above average, and a decade or so ago, it would have been considered a premium stainless steel.

If you don't need stainless steel, 3V would qualify as a great, premium steel.  It has some chrome in it (7.5%), so while it's not stainless, it's more corrosion resistant than most carbon steels.

The SRK is coated so the 3V can really shine.

If it's a steel you can beat on and still have a killer edge.

I have a little 3V folder I've been whacking against hardwoods, plates, bone  and counters and it's still razor sharp

Now the issue is a Cold Steel knife worth $140-150? The ones I had looked at were just under $100. $150 is new ESEE or TOPS territory. Familiar, comfortable territory.

I have a safe full of bushcraft type knives including Esee's, Becker's, fallkniven' and Benchmade's and my old Carbon V SRK's are the ones that get the most use.  I love the blade length, shape and handle.   I don't have one of the new steels but I'm sure it would be worth $130 or so.

Eh. In that territory you have a lot of options.

A coated 3v knife in that price isn't that bad assuming a good heat treatment.

How about a Bark River or Cross knife if looking at 3V??

You will probably never realize the difference in the steels.

There is a listing on the EE (not mine) for a couple of Falkniven A1's for a good price.  I believe the SRK is a copy of the Falkniven.
