I've always wanted to try a bushcraft style leather sheath but wasnt willing to pay what most of them cost. I just got it but it seems very well made. Ebay seller |

Ordered two 6's. One for me and one for sons birthday. Can't wait to get them. Hope they are as rugged as everyone here claims.

Another new sheath in today for my 3. I really like this one. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/blt2drg/Gunbroker/DSC00338.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/blt2drg/Gunbroker/DSC00337.jpg Did you make that or buy that one? If you bought it who makes it? I opened up the box on a new ESEE 4 a little while ago! |
|
Everytime I go to the knife-connection website I keep seeing the "on hand" quantities dropping. I blame all of you.
ETA: I'm REALLY torn on the 3 and 4. I like the size of the 3, but for mainly a hiking/camping knife, I like that the 4 has a larger blade. I keep making up my mind then re-thinking it.

If you are looking for something for your 4 check this guy out. I have 2 of his sheaths ordered right now, 1 for my ESEE 4 and 1 for a Scrap Yard knife. I've seen several reviews of his kydex and never heard of 1 complaint. This is his ebay link. He also sells on various blade forums. Azwelke |

If i had to pick just 1 i would go with the 4, especially for a hiking/camping knife. The 4 isnt so much bigger that it will feel different carrying, but when you need it i think the little extra length can help out a lot. The trade off is very worth it in my eyes. |

I have had the 3 for a while now and I just received the 4 in the mail today. If your going to be using it for camping and things of that nature Id say go with the 4. It is a little bit thicker and it feels better in my hand. The 3 feels very slim to me and the 4 seems just right. Or you could do what I did with my first ESEE knives. Buy a Izula pretty cheap and then order a 5. If you cant get a job done with those two knives just give up and die! |
|
I appreciate the feedback blt-2-drg and guncrazy72. I think ya'll have pushed me towards what I was feeling already. I'll get a 4 and then probably add an Izula for carry/small jobs and a 5 or 6 for large stuff. The 4 seems just right for light camp work. When I'm camping, I'll still have an axe and Kabar.
4Truck...my bank account does not like the term "Get Both".

Nice knife nonetheless Oh well, close enough It's a nice knife, I think my benchmade is better - quality wise. The finish on the blade of the HEST is really shitty imho, I've had it a whopping 1/2 day and already it has a few scratches on the finish and I didnt even cut anything yet . Also its very tight, hard to open and hard to close, but if you loosen the pivot screw the blade will then have play which I cant stand. I'm hoping it breaks in though... My benchmade is tighter than a frogs ass and still as smooth as butter. |

Got my -5 yesterday. Added a sheath from the extra's drawer. Thanks for the info everyone. Pushed me into getting one of the best knives I have ever owned. Love the weight! http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww261/CircRN/DSC00353.jpg Where did you get this sheath? Also, this sucks! Stumbled on this thread and now my hiatus on spending is over. I think I am going to get a izula 2 and either 4 or 5. I really have to stay away from this site more |

I traded two old Schrade knives for a new ESEE-4 clip point at last weekends gun show. It is my first ESEE, and the first one that I had seen in person with the back of the blade sharpened. I made a sheath for it and have been carrying it all week. Now I'm wanting to get one of the new Candiru. When are they going to be available? http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii1/blackplague138/003-14.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii1/blackplague138/001-13.jpg I like that sheath! ESEE Laserstrike just came out, got mine Friday. After messing around with it a bit, I can tell it will be my go-to knife for woods bumming, day hikes, weekend camping, etc. I'll probably buy a second and toss it in my get home bag as well. It's kind of like the ESEE-4, but with much better balance and feel.
The handle has a pair of Quicktinder tabs and a magnesium/ferro rod inside, eliminating the need for one attached to the sheath. Really liking this as a bushcraft/survival knife.... http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss323/RatDrall/012.jpg |

I like that sheath! Do you make these for others? I make a very simple sheath for a local company that produces a knife/pry bar for LEO/EMT. I've only made a couple of this type of sheath, but will be making more. It is much more fun than making holsters. Right know I am limited to knives that I or my friends own, but will be expanding into several different neck knife sheaths. Hope to set up a table at the local gun show at the end of April. Any ideas or improvements are welcomed. I have pictures from several different angles. Please direct comments via PM, so we don't sidetrack the ESEE thread. |
