Just got off the phone with my buddy at Barrett in Murfreesboro, TN.. The company just landed a contract with the US Army for 7000 rifles.  Whoohoo. Go M82!

Also, they have started selling IMI new, loaded 661 grain FMJ projos in IMI cases with "Barrett .50BMG" headstamps.  Thety are packaged in a 10rd plastic field pack and in an 80 rd fiberboard case.  Retail is $249 per case with a $30 hazmat shipping fee.   I'll probably have to get some just to collect the headstamp.

The fact that the Army is getting 7K more is a good sign to keep .50BMG interest up; just hope this doesn't give the opposition more fodder to show this is a "military" round that civvies have no business owning.

That's some expensive ball ammo. Nearly $3.50 per round with shipping. Might buy a few rounds if I see any at Knob Creek to try, but I won't be feeding the Armalite a diet of that stuff anytime soon. I get HSM ball ammo in Clarksville, TN for about $2.50 a pop and I feel bad about that.

I paid $2 a round for some IMI ball, hmmm... Better see if the guy I bought it from has anymore. $3.50 is kinda stiff for having brass with the Barrett headstamp. Who know's, maybe someday it will be collectable. LOL

Realize that is retail, dealers get a discount, which I have not yet checked into.

I just got some IMI for 1.25/rnd shipped!  I wish the guy had more.  And I got some Talon and SA ball for a buck a round shipped.  SA is not reloadable but for the price, who could pass it up?

We need to know if the brass will be available seperately too.  The range I go to won't allow steel core ammo.
