Thanks!

I don't get all the hate for the 16. Is it due to the price tag? Sure a $800 colt can do the same thing but sometimes life wants more than an AR

I think that has a lot to do with it.  People see the price and the fact that SOCOM did not adapt it so they assume it's worthless or at least not worth the cost of ownership.  I myself think they are a fantastic platform that offers a lot of advantages.

I agree. Lots of this and that from the SOCOM trials, operators not wanting this, not wanting that, etc. I wanted a 10.4 inch MR556 for the longest time because the cool kids use it but fell into a trade on a SCAR-16 that I couldn't pass up. Was kind of cold on it until I shot it suppressed in the 10 inch SBR config that it sits in now. Softest shooting SBR I own, I don't think I have ever cleaned it and honestly haven't lubed it in forever. Never a malfunction. Not one. My ARs dont really malfunction either but the SCAR gets run hard in the rain and snow and muck and such... Its a fantastic rifle in my opinion that doesn't get the credit that its due having not been adopted like the HK416 family of guns has.

I have 1000 dollar M4 builds as well, and those shoot great, but the panache of the SCAR is hard to beat I think.

Is that just a tan sprayed over the black? I've found that's my favorite. No matter how "cool" some paint jobs look they nearly always look like crap after a just a little use. I think this style works and looks the best.

Wow, it looks blackish on my phone.

Don't get me wrong. I love wear as well on basic paint jobs. My budy uses, grass, netting, rope, etc. Takes a him a day. Ill spray a rifle in 5 minutes. A little black showing through, etc.

My SCARS.  Need MOAR optics though.  I am still deciding on configurations for each.  I put a BCM VFG on the 17 for the time being.

Just threw an aimpoint micro in a LT660HK on my 16s. It's so light that it's like it's not even there.

Might be worth looking at

Painted my eotech and added a shade of fde.  Probably should touch up around the edges some.  If anyone knows how to rotate a photo on here, let me know.

If you swapped to a longer safety what did you go with?

PMM or Magpul?
Link Posted: 6/23/2017 9:54:41 PM EDT

Picked up a KDG stock, going to hit the range tomorrow and see if I like it better than the OEM.

As pictured the gun weighs 10.5lbs with 30rnds of MK318. No Mag it comes in at 9.5lbs.

I used the AXTS (now radian) selectors, because that's what I have on my AR. I like the a lot.

I picked up an Acog TA11 in EE and put it on the Heavy.  I really like the eye relief.  Not like the 4x at all...  So far my thoughts are that it balances well, it doesn't add noticeable weight, and very quick target acquisition.  Havent put any rounds through it yet.  But will this week to zero t 100M

@Finslayer83

what is the option for swapping out the lower rail?

Also, I see you replaced the front sight with a bit of rail - any reason why you decided against mounting the front flip sight on there?

I have the slick PMM rail as well. It's a quick two T25 screw change to go between the two.

I snagged the front sight rail as damage industries had em on sale for like $15 and I like the look better. No functional reason to be honest. It's a quick 2 min swap with a T25 bit.

Ah... I just went back and saw some of your previous iterations and saw the slick rail. Nice.

And I was actually asking why you mounted the front flip sight behind the rail instead of on it. Was it just to keep the front sight on the receiver itself? I was considering getting the gas block rail and mounting a flip sight on that, so I was curious to know if there was some reason that wouldn't work very well.

Thanks!

There's a few (minuscule) mm height difference between the gas block rail height and the receiver. Functionally it's not a problem but I don't know where I put my front sight tool - so the receiver had the post spot on for cowitness.

When I find my tool I'll move it forward

I noticed you removed the PMM MRE as well. Just no need for it, or did you have any issues with it?

Oh man.

I completely forgot about it - I'll need to get that back on, I took it off when messing with the lower rails.

It looks like the newer scars are coming with a darker, possibly melonited gas block over the older more grey colored ones.  Anyone know why they changed?

swapped some things over to the 16.  I'm going to use it as my main night shooting rifle for a while.  thinking about getting a EXPS to replace the T2.  reticle and sight picture is a little better under night vision.
