Damn, Buddyhoohaw, those are some nice toys.  Love that Elcan.  I just popped for my SCAR so it's going to be a while before I can afford some decent optics.

Here's my baby.  Still a virgin!

Thanks Kalmar.  I certainly ogled your SCAR when deciding on the Elcan.  Where did you find a SOCOM Gen II version II?

Cheers

Finally got my optics on "Brown Sugar":

She's a "blemmie", but you better not bring it up in front of her!

MM, are you a lefty?  If so, how do you release the bolt on a fesh mag (loading from a locked back bolt)?  Just a quick slap of the charging handle with the support hand?

keep us updated on the SBR SCARS!!!

strongbow - yup, i'm a lefty. yes, i just slingshot the charging handle with the support hand instead of hitting the bolt release with the strong hand. i tried it both ways and found it easier for me. i just put a vid up, and you can see me slingshot the charging handle a couple of times. also, have a laugh at my mag change fumble, when i realized that my mag didn't drop free. i've since corrected it by carefully sanding the inside of the mag well.

thanks! i wasn't planning on a review as there's not much to say that hasn't already been covered about the weapon itself. i'm more interested in covering accessories as they come up for this platform. i'm eager to try out the vltor stock adapter.

How does the "brakeout" compare to the "blackout" as far as flash-suppression is concerned?

i can't tell - haven't shot it at night yet.

Cool, for what it's worth, even as a righty, I find "sling-shotting" the CH more convenient than hitting the bolt release.

Sanman28...I like that eotech..   With it mounted back that far, do you have any problems with the charging handle?

It's the Trijicon RMR.

http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/parts_new.cfm?categoryID=13

Yes, I'm lefty...all my righty buddies now hate to use my rifle

Video of me doing the transition from acog to RMR.  Acog was at 100yds, RMR at 25yds.  I'm doing the chicken wing way too much but this was the first time I tried the set up.  Watching yourself on video is a great way to realize all the stuff you're doing incorrectly.  Sorry about the random camera change halfway through...my buddy thinks he's Scorsese.

A temporary set up I am planning to use next week at the 300 yard range with some 77gr ammo. Can't wait to see how it performs.

shot the SCAR with AAC brakeout last night. it's a no-go for night use, at least for me. huge fireball with LC M855. defintely not for use with NODs. if i go night shooting again, i'm swapping the brakeout for the blackout.

You'll do quite well. I have a TAO-1 4X ACOG on my SCAR. I can consistantly hit a 9" steal plate (gong) at 300 yrds shooting prone or sitting. I haven't shot for group. I'm happy with hitting the plate.

I have a 4x ACOG as well and am seeing head size groups out to 300yds. SCARS are pretty damm accurate.
