Was out the other day with the 556k with a friend, and we were comparing it to the Specwar 7.62 and Omega.  Everthing on a 16" barrel.

General consensus between us was that the 556k was actually slightly quieter than the other two cans.

Kind of surprising because per the decible "ratings" we were expecting the 556k to be slightly louder.

VERY impressed with the can for it's size, best yet, was on the fence between this one and the newer ASR 556k and couldn't pass up the sub $500 sell price.

If you can find one still up for sale at a good price, I'd wouldn't hesitate reccomending it.

Was it quieter for the shooter or bystanders, or both?

I have all three and wouldn't say it's quieter, but it's not much louder and is super small for how well it performs.

My hearing was litterally shot years ago.  The other guy shooting never shot suppressed before.  As mentioned, we both agreed the 556 was slightly less louder.

My only point is that everyone can "hear" loudness differently, and sometimes decible numbers really don't mean anything.

And yes, I'll agree, for it's size, it performs amazingly well.

Again, only pointing out that if you can still find one, I wouldn't hesitate on buying another one.  I didn't have a dedicated 5.56 can, and this fits the bill perfectly.

All the Specwars have a better tone in general I think. Probably makes for a quieter perceived sound.

Did Your specwar 556k seem like you would get more gas then the other cans?

My 556k has pretty low back pressure. Comparable to full size Surefire.

Now my full size Specwar 556 has the most backpressure of any of my silencers, by far. It's also incredibly quiet (relative to the caliber and platform).

Same here.

I only have the Specwar 7.62 to compare it to "same can type" if you will, but overall, much prefer the Specwar 556K over the Specwar 7.62 on a 5.56 rifle (would be curious as to how it performs vs the Specwar 556, but at this point in time, really see no reason to consider one with the performance of the 556k.  That is my opinion only.  Reading up on the 556k before I bought it, I was expecting it to be the loudest rifle can I'd have, and I'm very pleased with it's performance.

Again, only point is that if any dealers have any of the discontinued Specwar 556k cans out there at a good price, I'd jump on it.

When you guys say low back pressure do you mean gas?

Why I am asking is because I have a 10 1/2 sbr with a specwar 556k on it with a Gemtech sbc ,the rtv trick on the charging handle and a slr adjustable gas block on it and I am still getting a lot of gas in my face. I do not know what else I can do to stop the gas from coming back into my face.Anything else that you guys know that would help please chime in.The same sbr with a 30cal omega can on it,I get no gas to the face.

A lot of that is just baffle design for the blowback on the can, but of course adjustable gas blocks and carriers can help.

Have you tried a normal FA carrier with the SLR AGB? I am trying to understand what is happening with the SBC and AGB together... Seems counter productive.

How many clicks open is the AGB?  I am at 5 with an 11.5 mid.

I am running some of the same tricks as you, but with:

LMT Enhanced Carrier FA - these have a different cam path and keep the bolt closed for longer.

Vltor A5 Receiver Ext + A5H4 Buffer

End of the day if there is no wind I can still get gassed.

I have not tried a normal FA BCG and I have the AGB at 6 clicks and a H2 buffer installed. My brass is ejecting at 5 oclock. Before I added the AGB the brass was at one oclock.I guess this suppressor has a lot more blow back then my omega.I really like the 556k,so I will try a FA BCG.If it does not work I will have to live with the gas. Thanks,Rayrevolver

Generally speaking, the bigger the bore, the less backpressure (gas to the face). That's why your .30 cal Omega has less backpressure vs the SW556k (when shooting .223 through both).

I've been really impressed with my specwar K cans. I've got one on my MK18 and another on a basic 16 carbine. It really takes the MK18 down a lot. Actually makes it a pleasure to shoot.

I want one so bad...just missed getting one of the ones QRF found in storage a couple weeks back.

If anyone gets a beat in one please keep me in mind!  I've heard nothing but great things about them and this will be my first can.

Use the "Freedom Bone" or whatever they are calling it charge handle. I use it on my 11.5 with specwar K. It's helps with the gas face

It's depressing that they discontinued such a great can. We're supposed to accept the stupid Saker ASR as a legitimate alternative, but it really just isn't.

I'm even more depressed now that I know QRF was just selling their last few for $425.

I bought mine from these folks.  They are fairly local to me, so I didn't have to pay shipping or transfer--just wait for the Form 3 to clear from the warehouse to them, then drive up there.

$518.  It says they have them in the warehouse, but you'd have to call to check for certain.

Yep, it's a great can.  Picked one up from Silencer Shop for 525, which included the mount.

I usually just keep it on my 10.5" AR - was shooting it awhile ago thinking that the can wasn't doing that much - so I took it off, and remembered why I'd put it on!  Big blast and shock wave without it, and nice and friendly to shoot with it on.

Yup. Seems the SpecWar outsold the Saker,  then they discontinued it. Brilliant!!

I should be getting my Saker ASR K (which is really going to be a Saker Key-Mo K) soon. I don’t expect it to sound nearly as good as my SpecWar K. Only got the Saker K for hard use on really short barrels.
