Has anyone ever touched up the brass deflector on their upper.  Mine is all scratched up and an eyesore.

Fat, try "Aluma Black" from Caseys. Works wonders on touching up an AR. Soak a patch in it, scrub it in and let sit for about a minute. Wipe off and spray with a good gun oil.

To get some of the brass off the deflector use an eraser.  That's what I do whenever there is an upcoming rifle inspection.

Be sure it is the pink or red colored one like the ones used on wooden pencils.  It will clean off the excess brass.  As for the scratches clean the area off really well, use rubbing alcohol and wipe clean.  Apply the Aluminum black with q tip and rinse it off with cold water.  You should be good to go.

I heard (haven't tried 'cause I have an SP1 w/ no deflecter) that if you put a couple pieces of electrical tape around it, it won't get dinged, discolored, etc.  Once the tape gets chunked, replace.

Thanks again guys.  Normally something like this would warrent an entire new rifle, but I don't think I'll be able to pull it off this time.  The little lady is still screaming about the AK binge I just came off of.
