I just got an Otis cleaning system in the mail today. An issue unit for the Army. Nice flex rod, and appears to work well (only cleaned one I shot at lunch today). Any one out there with experience with these?

Yes I do have experience with them. They work well enough, but:

- They don't do anything that the simpler and cheaper boresnake doesn't do atleast as well.

- You should do what the troops that are issued do and keep the old style metal cleaning rod available. That flexible 'rod' won't do anything for you if you need to push something out of the barrel.

I like mine. Works great and forces me to clean breech to muzzle. I keep a standard sectional cleaning rod in the buttstock for if I ever have to clear the barrel - hasn't happened yet.

Both points well taken, the sectional will stay in the butt. Had to use it to clean the locking lugs, Otis just couldn't.
