Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Colt 20 rd mags with 223 marked on them???

All of the Colt GI 20rd mags have had 5.56mm on the floor plate.  I just picked up two that had 223 on the floor plates.  Is there any significants to this?

There is no real difference.  The only area they would differ in would be value but only if they were in mint condition and you had a Colt collector maybe looking to find one or two (or a complete box of 7). Their value would be only slightly higher than the 5.56 f.plate marked variant.

really,  Thats a bummer.  I thought they were some real special find.  Oh well I only gave 14.00 for them ea.

My two cents to the question will be that they are the orginal Colt manufactured mags. They changed the floorplate when consiousness(sp?) of the NATO allies made them change the  caliber marking to the 5.56
