Hey all,

I just wanted to see what ammo you've had the best results with in your Rem 700VS .223 (1 in 12 bbl).

So far, what's shot the best through mine, is the Black Hills 50gr V-Max (blue box).  Which did about 1/2 - 5/8" 5 shot groups.....

I suppose your 700 should have a 1 in 12 twist barrel like mine. So with that I have found the following..

For factory ammo, Federal Premium varmit 55gr balistic tip does real well in mine. About 3/8 of an inch.

I hand load, and with IMR 4198 and Sierra 50gr Blitz Kings, my 700 is deadly. I have had similar succes the the 52 gr Matchking.  I ground hog hunt during the summer so I like the lighter, faster 50 gr.  On a good windless day, we are talking 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch groups at 100 yards.

I think I use IMR 4064 and the Sierra 52 gr. HPBT, outstanding groups at 100, about 1/2" norm.

Anyone else with a Rem700 VS .223 have some insight for me??

I have had fantastic results with the cheap Federal American Eagle 50 gr hollow points, both shooting groups and hunting coyotes. I have never had to shoot one more than once with this load, and I am something like 30-1 on 1 shot kills, and 1 miss I can remember. That is awesome performance, something I cannot say even about 30/06, 243 and 22/250 loads I used before.

I reload and use Accurate 2230 powder in 40-grain v-max bullets and 52 grain a-max for best ever accuracy of .219 in. group. However most loads will do 3/8 to 1/2 in. groups. I do ok at 200 yards( 1 1/2 in group} with factory winchester 55gr. and federal 55 gr. ballistic tips.
