What is the effective range of the .223? I am not talking about punching holes in paper at the range, special loads, or headshots. I am talking about center mass shots (zipper to necktie), with mil surplus ammo and knowing that the aggressor is not going to bother you anymore. I know this has a lot to do with the shooter, but I am guessing 300 meters for the average guy. Thoughts? Where can I find some ballistic info on the .223?

Thanks

Bud Gordon

it also has a lot to do with your barrel length (well, maybe not a lot).

see this post www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=80447 for a good discussion on effectiveness.
