If it is legal, where can I pick up a few boxes?

it doesnt come by the box, it ONLY comes belted for SAW packs. and it is VERY rare. i have only seen it once. some army types had it for their pintle mounted SAW. i have been trying for years to get my hands on a few rounds to no avail. i dont want much. just 3-5 rounds for my collection.

AP is legal ammo.

It's not legal, for a FFL to sell AP ammo, other than .30 M2 AP (.30-06).

Widener's has listed pulled .308 AP bullets in their catalog before. I don't recall seeing any .224. I was thinking of getting a few myself to load in the .300 WSM (BTW: Anyone have a load recipe for the 173 black tips in .300WSM? :)

I've shots tons of the 06 out of an old Rem. 700 I had years ago (bought 2 ammo boxes of it from a buddy), pretty impressive. It will shoot through the web (center support section) of railroad track. Is there really much difference in penetration on the green tip and black tip 5.56? It doesn't seem like they could get that much more out of hardening the insert.

Hehe...Ed here's what happened when we fired one round of larger caliber API at railroad rail...

Yeah you shouldn't shoot at this stuff cause it can come back at 'ya but we had it at 100 yds range.
