I saw one for not too much at a gun show the other day. the stock was fixed so it didnt collapse. It was under 1500 IIRC. I thought it was a good deal but I don't really know much about them so I didn't really think much of it. If i see it again this month.. I'll post about it.

Your looking in the wrong places. I've seen Galils in the asking range of $2000 - $2500(NIB)over at subguns.biggerhammer.net/nonnfaad.cgi I've seen post ban types, ones with an "S" stamped on the receivers go for much less, ~$1100. If you get one in .223, start looking for an AR mag adapter - works great.

I believe the "S" is for sporter. A bunch of these rifles were imported by Springfield after the ban. Have also seen bare recievers up for sale also - but kits are a bit expensive. Try going through some of the AK forums, should be alot more RKIs on the subject than there are here. Possibly be able to get the minimum number of US parts in so that you can retain the pistol grip and not use a thumbhole stock.

Were? You answered your own question with your misspelled word. Were, as in the past, is the only place you'll find a cheap Galil.z

Only a few months ago, there was a consignment Galil .308 hanging on the wall of a local shop. It stayed there for a while at $2600, then down to $2500. It was still there at that price for a while. Then it disappeared, although I did not ask if it sold, or the owner just picked it up. The weapon was probably in at least 95% condition, with 2 hi-cap (I think they are 25 rounders) mags.

I think I just recently saw a Galil .308 (could have been a .223, not 100% sure) for $2400 on one of the gun boards. By my estimation, it should be around the $2500 mark. At that price, it may be "cheap" compared to what you are seeing at $3500.

Good luck...

Depends on what you consider inexpensive? I can't get an inexpensive one. Anything over a $grand is expensive to me.

Israel, Dharra Pakistan (if they don't have it, they will make it for you!)
