This will be my CCW. After posting a related query and doing some "research", I've narrowed it down to these 2 candidates:

S&W 686P - stainless steel, 35.5 lbs., 2.5" bbl. (non-ported) & 7-shot capacity.
S&W 386PD - scanduim alloy, 17.5 lbs., 2.5" bbl. (non-ported) & 7-shot capacity.

Weight vs. recoil seems to be the issue of greatest contention (Ported bbls. aren't an acceptable option, IMO). Opinions/recommendations?

I think I would opt for a 17.5 lbs. revolver over a 35.5 lbs. revolver. That sure seems like way too much weight to carry around.

But seriously, lighter weight carries better but there's more felt recoil. Have you shot the alloy S&W? I'd say the best one is the one you can shoot most accurately and get back on target quickly for follow up shots.
