Since most 1911s come with five-inch barrels, I'm guessing go with the five-inch slide. It seems like six-inch barrel/slide-equipped 1911s are mostly for competition IIRC.

Just measured my standard 5" barreled slide and it is 7 1/2" from end to end.

So, when ordering a slide from RRA what size do I want for a standard GI 1911A1?  Is the midsize RRA 1911 a better carry platform or is the compact 4 inch slide a better carry weapon?

What are the slides marked on the RRA 1911's?

5" is the standard size barrel for a standard size slide.  I've got an Oficer's ACP and have carried it a bit & shot it in competition.  I can't tell much difference in carrying.
