I know the 1187 will shoot a wider range of loads, but want to know any other reason to buy a 1187 instead of the 1100. Have had great success with 1100's and they are cheaper these days.

Anyone with have an opinion?

M4-AK,

My info may not be very current on the 1100, but here is my opinion.

I have both, but both are reasonably old. The 1100 I own is about 20yrs old and the 1187 is @12yrs old. The 1100 will not always feed every type of round. I got the 1187 for a graduation present because it fired 2 3/4" to 3" loads with out fail. I can load up a light 2 3/4"dove load, followed by a 3" Goose load, and it will do it with out fail. The 1100 will not always digest the light loads. I don't know if they have fixed this problem, but that is my experience. I would love to have a new 1187 that digest the 3 1/2" loads as well, but I can't really justify it. I love my 1187, does it all. I like it better than Browning Golds(constant problems), and Benelli Black Eagle's, just to name a few that I have tried. I like the 1100s also, just not as dependable. I kept mine for my kids when they get older, light kicking, and can use it a single shot when they are starting out.

Something is screwed upith your 1100, mine is 32 years old and fires that $2.50 cheap ammo all day long and it has not been ported yet. Gas ports.
