no limit under federal law... in CA, only restriction is one hand
gun a month plus that f*cking state AW ban that drives people to the Pheonix gun shows.

Daishi, my wife would kill me it I bought 1 handgun a month, how can all of you people in Kali afford to maintain compliance with the 1 gun a month rule?  When do you have time to shoot all those guns?

I think that when you have to break the law to get money to buy more guns, the one before you  broke the law is as many as you can legally own.

Or the Reno shows.  Cocky sons of bitches piss me off to no end.  I seriously do not like them.  I made it to the gun show at the Hilton on saturday just to find the place packed.   Got harrassed by security big time, got shunned by alot of the dealers cause I'm young (I was even dressed nice so that wouldnt happen, it didnt work)  And brought a guy who's never fired a gun.  he's young and hispanic who got nasty looks from just about everyone of those old nasty white people.  Dont know why I bother anymore.  Better deals online, better people, and my local gunstore has cheaper prices (except ammo, but ammoman gets my money anyway.)

Are you positive about this? The only reason I ask is that I knew a guy who got arrested once on other charges, and while I didn't know all the details a friend of mine who knew him better said that they'd tacked on a charge of "stockpiling weapons". Supposedly they took 40 or more AK's out of his house.

But my friend could have easily been mistaken. Believe me I'm not calling you a liar, just wanting to know for sure.

I know that old Uncle sam is watching the gun purchases.  They get all the federal registration forms, so they know who is buying.  I think the main factor the BATF went after the Waco compound was because they had a lot of guns and ammo.  Other than that, they would have been left alone.

There is no Federal limit and I know of no state, county, city, etc. law in the the US that limits the number you can own. There could be some strange city somewhere that does, but I think I would have heard of it by now.

Here is where I think you may have heard of this 25 gun limit number.
In my BATF State Laws And Published Ordinances Book, 22nd edition [ATF 5300.5]
Page 215 under New York Penal laws, section 265.02  subdivision (5) " Criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree"
A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree when:

 "(5)(i) He possesses twenty or more firearms;
or (ii) he possesses a firearm and has been previously convicted of a felony or a class A misdemeanor defined in this chapter within the five years immediately preceding the commision of the offense and such possession did not take place in the person's home or place of business."

This is New York law and may or may not apply to other states.

Flashbang1, Go to 265.00 Definitions, sub 2.) The NYS PL definition of a firearm is a pistol or revolver or a sawed off rifle, under 16" barrel, under 26" overall or sawed off shotgun, under 18" barrel, under 26" overall. Firearms under NYS law are the above, not guns, You can own as many guns in NYS as you wish. A NYS pistol license would exempt you from prosecution under this section. There is no provision in NYS for any civilian to own a sawed off rifle, sawed off shotgun, machine gun, or silencer. MIKE.

It has been a few years  since I lived in New York State, but I don't think they have loosened the rules.....
At that time, once you received your pistol permit and located a handgun you wanted to buy, you had to go before a judge and get his permission to make the purchase. If he approved, the gun's serial number was typed directly on your license.
The NYS license had room for maybe five or six serial numbers; while judges COULD staple on an amendment sheet, they also could refuse, and often did so, instead requiring you to sell one of your handguns to make room for another serial number.
While there may not have been a limit by law, there definitely was one by judicial practice.

You could buy this many; but since that many don't exist and I won't sell mine I guess you can only have the rest of the legal guns you can affoard.

I dunno about the 25 gun limit in NY.  I know guys that unfold their permits like a proud papa with his first boy's baby pics.  I'll check into it though.

UNESCO estimates there are 500 million 'small arms and light weapons' in the world today.  Subtract the rocket launchers, antiaircraft missiles and suchlike that they use to inflate the figures, then start buying. :)

Then again, according to the antigun 'Small Arms - Many Hands' propaganda distributed by UNESCO, an M-16 is an AK-47 'look alike'.  With that level of expertise on the subject, it's safe to assume that UNESCO small arms figures reflect reality only coincidentally.
