cassull? i was just watching the first ep of hellsing and one of the main guys uses a 454 cassull 1911. i really want one

I really don't think the 1911 could handle the pressure, unless you beefed it up to the point that it really wasn't a 1911 anymore. The 1911 platform can't even handle full-power 10mm pressure for very long.

Can you imagine how large the grips would have to be to fit that cartridge in there? And Sparky is right...the 454 Casull would blow the 1911 (and whoever is holding it) to hell and beyond.

AMT made a .50 AE in a 1911 style frame. A .454 is way too much for a recoil operated arm like the 1911. The pressures are higher than most rifles and the frame would be battered.
I dispute the 10mm claim on the 1911. Its not the pressures that batter the gun but the momentum and 10mm is nowhere near maxing a good steel 1911 frame. FYI, .45 Super has greater momentum than full bore 10mm. |

cyrax, check out an LAR Grizzly, a beefed up 1911 style handgun available in .45 Win Mag, .44 magnum, 50 AE, among other caibers. This was a quality piece, but is no longer in production. You could get a variety of slide lengths. Big gun.
