Congrats!!  I have a G23 and love mine.  When you get a chance you should get a .40 S&W barrel and if you want a 9mm conversion barrel (you'll only need a 9mm mag to go with it).

Yes, the 31, 32 & 33 are .357 Sig.

You can't do that w/ a factory barrel, the G17/34* full size variant has a different locking lug than the mid-size and compact variants.  The mid size barrels will fit in the compact models though.  Aftermarket barrel makers offer a variety of lengths or styles (std., compensated or threaded)

A few years ago when I ordered my 9mm conv. barrel O.A. screwed up and sent me a G22 conv. barrel (typical O.A. but that's another story) so when it arrived I went and popped it in and then re-assembled it to the frame and it was locked up!!!!  I was freaked!!  After a few minutes of extremely high blood pressure we got it apart but I was worried for a bit.
