Shot a 200 yard reduced matgh yesterday using my Garand with the Holcomb device installed. What a diferance it made in feeding during off hand and prone slow fire. It makes a Garand feed like A M1A! That had to of been the best $45 investment I've ever made. You just have to be very aware that during the rapid stages you have to manually eject the clip. I would reccomend anyone with an M1 install this device. It's available thru an add in Shotgun News. No More M1 thumb!

What is a "Holcomb device" and where did you get it?

Re Holcomb device.
This is a modified op-rod catch made and sold by John Holcomb. You can contact him at [email protected] or write to him at 2015 24th St. Bellingham, WA. 98225. It sells for $45.00 including shipping. It took all of 5 minutes to install and it allows you to insert an empty en-bloc clip into the M1, without ejecting it, and you can push a single round against the follower into the clip without the bolt closing. To close the bolt, you rack it back just like an M1A. In rapid fire an entire 8 rounder can be installed and fired except the clip will not eject after the last round. To eject the clip you just push the clip latch button and the clip will pop out with the usual "ping". It works as advertised!
