@bulldog1967
Can you reach the safety with your trigger finger without breaking your grip on the pistol grip? Seems like that stock puts it way out of reach.

Benelli

This is coming from a guy who like Saiga 12. IMO there is no comparison.

Hard to beat the Benelli.  Either the M1/M2 or M4.  The M4 has less kick than the M1/M2 series being gas operated, and I think is a bit heavier as well.  The M1 is a mule of a gun with just a few rounds in it for kick, but most of that is related to how light it is.

It’s hard to beat the 1301 Comp Pro as a do-everything shotgun.

Beretta A300 Patrol seems to be a great option...

But the best shotties are Benelli/Beretta right now ...

Well after the consensus here and overall research on the web I decided on the Beretta 1301 Tactical LE. Got it for $1500 shipped to my FFL. This shotgun is light, almost toy-like. I'm deciding in which side saddle and sling to go with.

Beautiful gun, I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

I love my M2. I was very surprised how light it is when I first shot it, surprisingly recoil is not punishing.
The semi-auto action absorbs a lot of the recoil.

( personally I do not like slings on shotguns for HD, but that’s an entirely different argument/thread but I have been impressed with Magpul’s line of slings )

Put ithe 1301 to work today, 300 rounds of buckshot, slugs, and target loads. No cycling issues at all. Considering how light this shotgun is the recoil is subtle compared to my pumps. I went through the case of shotsells quick with this gun!  I added some of those Esstac saddle cards and a Vickers padded sling.

M2 is the Toyota 4Runner of your options.
1301 is the Lexus GX.
930 is the Nissan X-Terra.  You might get a great one on par with a 4Runner.  But a good chance you might get a dog more on par with an Isuzu rodeo.

Then using that analogy, the M4 is the Toyota Landcruiser

Glad OP is happy with his choice.

I went Benelli m4 due to durability. Steve Fisher has broke 2 or 3 1301’s in his classes now…he’s yet to break a benelli m4.

I was really close to the Beretta, that OD green one is beautiful, it has great reviews…but the durability testing of the m4 just can’t be rivaled.

I love my Beretta 1301s, but may want to look at the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol, which is a getting a lot of good press as a cheaper 1301.
