I always bring something weird to the range people haven’t seen before, but if I had to say, my
Lakeside Razorback .22 beltfed AR upper takes the cake.

The only problem is that EVERYONE wants to shoot it so it’s a lot like when I had my subgun…. Cheaper to shoot, sure, but everyone else but you gets to shoot it and loading belts ain’t a lot of fun.

This draws a crowd, I let whoever wants to, shoot it, big smiles as this thing is loud and has very little recoil.

Garand, suppressed MP5, UZI, Desert Eagle .50AE, and AUG nets me the most comments from randoms at the range. Of course not all of them are to my face but electronic ear pro let's me hear the whispers behind my back.

Recently, it has been the suppressed AR with the RC2. Pistol wise, the S&W 41 .22lr is everybody's favorite at the range. Of all the guns I own, the 41 is the one that folks want to try out.

I don't have anything really odd, but this gets a lot of attention...especially the guys shooting next to me. Oops.
My son and I were shooting both of our 54s one day, and it sounded like a cannon volley to some people.

I agree, I'd rather concentrate on my personal skills.

That said, when two of my wife's cousins came from Ca. I selected my M1A Scout rifle and an M4.  They went nuts.  And not so great from a persec standpoint was OTHER relatives asking me when it would be their turn to shoot...

I really enjoy the looks I get when I take my suppressed B14R (lefty) out to the 300 yard range.

pew..................wait for it............ting

The B14R is a Rem 700 footprint and mine is in an AICS chassis. Nobody realizes that it's just a .22 until I start shooting.  Then they can't believe that a .22 can hit a 12" plate at 300.

My .300 Blk SBR gets a lot of attention--usually by Fudds accusing me of bringing an illegal firearm to the club.  I know that I don't have to show anyone but law enforcement proof of my tax stamp, but I've found that keeping a copy in the grip storage compartment and gently educating people goes over better than telling them to mind their own business.

My pair of matching Vaqueros in .44 Mag also tend to get an audience.  I get a few appreciative looks/comments whenever I pull them out. I usually only shoot bunny fart .44 Special loads, but I keep a box of very hot Magnum loads in the range bag for fun.  As soon as I touch off a 240gr XTP that's moving at almost 1500 FPS from a 5.5" barrel, people usually move to a lane further away.

Suppressed CP33 with brace, slant grip, and Deltapoint Pro. Mag extenders on mags and preloaded with CCI Standard.

Extended mags hold 50 rounds of quad stack rimfire. Super quiet.Very light trigger. Zero recoil. Weighs nothing. Easy to shoot. Clean glass with a crisp dot. Shoots 2" groups at 50 yards. Had a buddy put 4 out of 5 in 1 hole with a 1" group overall at 50 yards.

It makes anyone accurate, everyone fast, and anyone can shoot it. It is the ultimate range toy.

My 2-bore is a crowd pleaser but not many people seem to want to shoot it.  Standard load is 350 grains of 1F behind a patched 1.300" round ball that weighs about 3450 grains or 1/2 pound of buckshot.

More info on artillery piece, please!  Who built it?  How much does it weigh?  What would you compare the recoil to?  I'm not too recoil sensitive, but that might be taking it a bit far.

Went shooting this past weekend with a lot of people, most of whom had not shot before or had little experience.

It was a mix of youth to adults.  My 9 year old being more skilled than most.

It was interesting to find these were the firearms that brought the most smiles:

I built it from scratch.  It weighs 27 pounds unloaded.  Recoil is a bit of a handful but not too bad.  I used to have a Ruger #1 in .416 Rigby that was way worse!  My standard load is a 1.300" lead roundball (or 1/2 pound of buckshot) and 350-500 grains of 1F blackpowder.

All things suppressed are generally loved.  Especially hand guns for new shooters.

That being said, for those who are a wee bit older, and any one who likes the solid sounding hit on a hard target, the M1A.

Second shout out for the Nylon 66.  Something so nice about that gun.  Kids, adults, old and new shooters.  Just a great thing to enjoy.

Ladies seem to enjoy handling my 3" DA/SA S&W 317 .22 revolver.
They tell me that its not too big and heavy and scary, and not too small to get a good grip on it when it goes off and jumps around in their hand.
"Just the right size," they say, as I ensure that its always pointed in a safe direction.

They also say that they like that there are different ways to make it shoot.
I think I know what that means.
I especially like to help with their first time, because it makes me proud to be a good ambassador of the shooting sports.

And I'll tell you something else... One time, this one girl? She told me that she was so excited by the whole naughty power danger thing that she wouldn't mind cleaning it after.
I ended up helping, like I always do, but it was the thought that counts.

You should get one.
Maybe we could compare them, and see which one we like better.
But mines pretty special to me.

The ones I have that people gather round are these:

S&W 629 V-Comp .44 magnum

Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf

Bond Arms Bond Girl Mini .357 magnum aka Noisy Cricket

Springfield "Trapdoor" .45-70

They are all big boomers which seems to draw attention, especially when girls are shooting them.  Still haven't had anyone willing to shoot the little derringer with .357 magnum loads after seeing it fired once lol.  It's actually not that bad but it looks scary.

Biggest crowd pleaser is for sure the SCAR 17.  Steyr AUG puts a smile on people's face as well.

When I had an S&W 500 everyone would crowd around at the indoor ranges when it'd start going off.  Same with the elephant rifles.  I had a Model 70 in 416 Rem Mag, and a Ruger No. 1 in 458 Lott.  People didn't want to shoot those, though.

These two usually get some comments and longing looks.

I have plenty of M2 to let someone rip off an en bloc for the glorious ping.

30-40 inventory doesn't allow for such generosity.

Amphibian was that LM7 in your video running the LM7 bolt or one of the later Razorback bolts that supposedly run better in full auto than the LM7 bolt?  I've got a LM7, Razorback and the little Razorback belt-fed pistol upper that Eric made a few of, gotta find time to actually shoot them.

The LM7 bolt was used in that video.  We ran a lot of rounds that day and it ran awesome.   What is strange is that after cleaning, it was unreliable.  Later I got the Razorback bolt which does work much better.

I do a lot of shooting with a lot of experienced people, but one of my biggest crowd pleasers is my Uberti Colt Walker replica, along with some other black powder revolvers.

They in no way have violent recoil, but the boom and smoke seems to make people enjoy shooting them. A lot of otherwise experienced shooters have no experience with bp revolvers. and seem to always enjoy them.
