Held a gyrojet

And had the opportunity to drool over my NFA dealers Lahti 20mm a few times. It was usually in his gun room leaned up against the wall. It truly is a beast.

That's it.

Which MP7 variant did you fire?
Did you fire the FG42 full auto? If so, how would you rate the controllability?

Oh, I have also shot a good number of different Free Pistols designed for Olympic match use.

I have a TOZ-35 that has a trigger pull on it that is shocking.  You better not drop that one while it is "primed" and ready to roll.  The pull is perhaps an ounce or two.  I don't know how to test that.  You just slightly caress the trigger face and SNAP!  Like an icicle.

Some of the Hammerli free pistols are neat, and I did lust after a new Morini that I got to man handle.  The Morini had an electronic trigger safety that pegged the cool meter.

Also some other Olympic Rapid Fire Match pistols (outdated, like me) including my Walther OSP Match, a Pardini, a rare High Standard chambered in .22 Short, a FAS Domino, and a French Unique DES-69, etc.

I handled the "P90" from Spawn, a guy was carrying it around Knob creek gun show, If you don't know it was a Mac 11 with a bunch of sheet metal welded to it to look like a P90 as none were available when the movie was filmed.

Nothing as exotic as many of the posters here.

I've got a Browning GII in 30.06.  The originals were only made for 6 years back in the late 60's/early 70's.  Don't know who did it but this one has the engraving on the sides of the receiver filled in with gold.

I've got a Springfield Armory 03 Mk1.  Only about 1 our of every 16 03's were Mk1's.  No, don't have the Pederson device, just the rifle with what looks like it's original sling on it.

I've got a Remington 03A4.  Very accurate old rifle.

I've got a Browning BDM 9MM.  Only Browning handgun made in the US (I hear).  Only semi-auto set up to shoot either DA/SA or DA only by turning the "switch" in the slide.

I've got one of those limited run S&W N-frame fixed sight .357 magnums made in the late 70's/early 80's for some LE Department that refused to take them after S&W made them (never shot that one).

I've got a Remington 1100 in 16 ga.  I've had people argue with me that 16 ga. 1100's don't exist/never made so I don't know how rare they are.

I've got an old Colt Frontier Scout in the original box with the .22 LR and .22 magnum cylinders.

I've got a Ruger 5.5" bull barrel .22 semi auto pistol that's pre "Mk1".  Meaning it looks like a Mk1 but does not have Mk1 stamped on it.  No idea how many years they made those before starting to stamp Mk1 on them.

My old Winchester M52B is the most accurate .22 rifle I've ever shot.

I only base "rare" on my gun show experiences.  I don't see these guns at gun shows much, if at all.  I did see a couple BDMs several years ago.  I do see an 03A4 at the local gun shows but evidently no one is willing to pay what the guy wants as he's displayed it for the last 10 or 12 years at every gun show.

handled an HK VP70.  Neat gun but abysmal trigger (owner let me dry-fire it a few times).

fired a USGI M14.  Fun and neat to say "I did that," but with the standard (i.e., lightweight) barrel it just danced all over the place.  Full auto on an M14 is kinda useless unless it's a medium- or heavy-weight barrel.

Nah, you just need the E2/A1 setup!
It's still less controllable than a G3 or FAL though.

Not super rare, but:

1/2 scale full auto M2, belted 22, finicky but fun.

Thompson a few times, always heavier than you remember.

Reising M60, easy shooting gun.

Fudd stuff I'd have to think about.

Handled a few different Henry's owned by my grandfather and my great uncle.

Rarest I've shot is probably an STG-44. That or an HK G-36.

Rarest I personally own is my WWI 1911. Grandfather purchased it from the DCM in 1960; i have the original paperwork. I have killed a few deer with it, posted pics here with two of them when I did it about 9 years ago.

14" good enough?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Haq4-W5WkoI

I don't know that .25" ACP has enough oomph to get there.  .22" WMR FMJ does - that's what intrigues me about the PMR-30.
Out past 50 feet I think I'd agree - but why did the Czechs choose .32" ACP for the Skorpion?
View Quote
Sorry; I didn't respond to you earlier.

Yes, 14" inches is certainly good. Perhaps I discounted the round too much.
I think .32 ACP was originally selected for controllability in full auto, based on the compact size of the weapon. I think much of the modern "PDW" concept is owed to the Skorpion and its designer.

It was subsequently produced in other chamberings, not long afterwards. It's interesting that 9x18mm came third.

I ran several magazines through a friend's Holloway Arms HAC-7 rifle. It never got through a full magazine without at least one failure to eject. This was with factory magazine, and some non-factory modified original AR-10 magazines.

I also briefly owned one of the Norinco AKs that had a rivet in the autosear hole and a spot welded piece blocking the slot in the right receiver rail. I sold it back to the shop I bought it from when I  heard  a rumor about them being contraband. I had thought they were legal when I bought it. I thought the modifications HAD to have been ATF approved, as it had import markings. Silly, ignorant,  youthful me.

The HAC-7 did not, unfortunately, have a chance to mature.  I think it's one of the most creative designs.

Mine has never seen a round from me.    No spare parts and it's only pretty when you pretend it works.

Was it perhaps the Argentine selective fire “PB a Ráfaga”? I didn't think Inglis manufactured any with a selector switch.

How would you compare the FNC to the SG 551-2? It seems the SIG would be superior in every way, except maybe the AR mag compatibility. Does it bother you that it doesn't have a bolt hold-open? That's what I dislike the most about the F2000. I like the forward ejection though.

Re: the highpower, I don't know. I was thinking it was a pre-86 DS, but I actually recall it was a transferable conversion. I believe it was a converted Inglis.

The FNC and 551 are very very similar in fullauto. Very smooth, about the same ROF, excellent burst function which resets upon trigger release even if the shooter fires less than 3 rounds. The Swiss 55x is much more elegant and refined than the FNC. But....a transferable 550 is a unicorn of the highest order. The FNC is awesome. Were it not for the paucity of spares, I would shoot mine a whole lot more.

I was able to acquire a Swedish AK5C handguard and gasblock. Also picked up scar bolt hold open parts and green mountain barrel. Everything will go off to the smith for full AK5C conversion, including the bolt hold open...once I source the C stock.

Favorite would be the Czech Lada prototypes in 5.45 that never went anywhere. It fixed just about all the problems with the AK. Had a thumb selector, mag well with AR style mags, and a top cover that actually stayed put to keep zero.

Fired the standard MP7 at the HK factory range. That was 2006ish.

Fired from the bipod as well as standing. Same as any other "full power" "assault rifle"... First round hits target, the rest go over the right shoulder. It was in the captured weapons locker while in Kosovo, 2000.

I have a uncle with impeccable taste.

All varieties of ww1 ww2 era 1911 including a colt navy

Standard and artilery model Lugers

Original Walhers from the same era

Www2 m1 carbine standard and paratrooper

Spencer rifles, rolling blocks, gen1 colt single actions...

Always a pleasure to visit and see what he's acquired.

Gifted him a hkp7 after he liked mine so much and a few stripped lowers, can't get him to make up his mind on how to finish them.

You reminded me of the H&R T48 in the units arms room in Bad Tolz, Germany.  That was a US built FAL for the service rifle trails that the T44 won which would be classified as the M14.

The Owen was weird to shoot. If you look down it from the top, it's all bent weird so you can see the sights.  Iirc, the sights are on the right side of the fun, and the stock is bent enough to put your right eye behind them.  I'm guessing it'd be impossible to use left handed. Lol
