Doesn't seem any different. In fact my finger rests RIGHT where the button is located when its indexed along the side of the gun. I've inadvertently dropped the mag a couple times when running around at the range

Ghey. I pulled the cheek rest on mine off before I replaced the stock. It went right back on lol. Same crappy cheek weld as the skeleton A-1 stock without the cool .mil look.

Got to play with one belonging to the Czech Republic here in Astan today.  Fired ten rounds of M855 ball into a head target off hand at 100m, nice shooter.  Didn't have time to rotate the selector all the way over.

They had offered me to shoot their cz705 also but again not enough time.

Why were you shooting with people down range of you? Putting on the fun switch shouldn't have changed anything if it was safe to shoot with the 6 others down range from you.

Was it using USGI or HK mags? @Combat_Diver

ETA: Guessing USGI/STANAG as there is no paddle release from what I can tell.

I finally got to play with a pistol at a LGS and it’s a long reach.  My finger doesn’t even touch it unless I rotate my hand.... a lot.  Held a Scar hanging right above it just for reference and my finger rests right on the button on the Scar without moving my hand at all.  Kinda bummed... seemed like a stout gun

I picked up a Bren Carbine and love it.  Definitely heavier than my other guns, but does run crazy smooth just like everyone says!  The safety is a little awkward and I'm fine with grabbing the charging handle to drop the bolt.  I thought the mag release was fine as well.  I will likely buy a bent charging handle to avoid accidental knuckle busting since it's pretty close to my eotech.

Stryker finally released their charging handle: http://store.strykerenterprises.com/BREN-Enhanced-Angled-Charging-Handle_p_136.html

Safety issue can be remedied with a large backstrap...well at least it did for me.

Moved the scout and TD stubby over to Bren. This is my favorite setup on this gun by far.

Probabaly taking over as my primary carbine.

Don't have it in front of me to measure, but a standard AR (m4 style) rail cover fit on the bottom and covered up all but one notch.

I got the carbine. I don't mind the 16.2" barrel, but I can understand where you are coming from. I really like the 805 a lot. Just a great shooting rifle. I'm contemplating adding a 805 pistol + brace or saving up for a SCAR 16. Most likely I'll just go with a 805 pistol + brace as the SCAR 16 (while nice) doesn't really add much over the 805 carbine that I already have.

I agree on the barrel. 16.2" look ugly, awkward and unbalanced to me. First thing I did was chop and pin mine to 14".

I haven't found anything on the 805 specifically, but I have a good article where they torture test the 807 in both 5.45 and 7.62, to military testing standards. It preformed outstanding.
24,000 rounds, 12,000 per rifle. It's a good read and I'm sure you can extrapolate the data to the 805, or at least close enough.
I can't find an online copy right now, but I put it in a dropbox if you want to read it.
