Enough ARs...
I can build anything I want at this point, so I'm set on ARs. They would have to do something really different to get my attention.
I much rather see the ARX-200 come out with M-Lok instead of Keymod. |
I'm trying to decide if I should pick one of these up. I can get a NIB ARX100 16" for $899, so about $945 out the door. The only rifles I've owned have been AR15s, 10/22s, and a cheapo WASR 7.62x39. Right now the only firearms I own are:
Glock 34 w/ x300u-b (on-duty) Beretta M9 (off duty, all metal parts, Wilson ultra thin grips, etc). Beat to hell Glock 17 w/ TLR1 HL (lives in my nightstand) 3x AR15 SBR lowers with no uppers (got them all efiled before they made that change requiring fingerprints) 1x AR15 lower with no upper I've owned pretty much every major manufacturer's handgun. The only rifles I've owned are AR15s, 10/22s, and a cheapo WASR 7.62x39. I really like Beretta, the 92 series is amazing. I've taken an armorer course for the AR15 platform, and it's a really great platform but just kinda boring to me at this point. I like military clones, so eventually I'll build the registered lowers into clones. Recently I've been on a KISS kick. I'd like to just pickup the ARX100, throw a 1-4 scope and light on it and make it my go to do-everything rifle. But, will I be able to get parts for it down the road? AR15's are easy, there are tons of armorer courses, maintenance schedules, and spare parts available. The Beretta ARX has, from what I can tell, none of that. |

Within the last two pages people report of ordering parts from brownells.
I think your post pretty much answers your own question, id just stick to AR platform |

But what about springs? Springs will need replaced at some point. Is there any sort of maintenance guide or schedule for when springs will need replaced? Are replacements readily available?
I’ll probably end up buying one of these anyway... |

Read back more pages, i reported breaking my pistol grip plug and getting a SPARE direct from Beretta.

One of the ARX-100s I own (the latest, i.e. newest) has a pretty stiff bolt when trying to manipulate it. I've oiled and greased it but it can still take way too much force to get it out of battery at times.

I mean think about it, you have an armed insurrection where people are getting thrown out of helicopters and blown up who's going to notice that a few clowns go missing. - jerrywhy01

I have a early ARX with the factory SBR kit, a later ARX, and a later FDE ARX. So one could say I have spare parts
I broke mine too...

A 7.62x39 conversion kit would boost the market for this platform. You don't see people bitching about the early Bren 2 being available in both 556 & Russian 30 formats. Then there's the Bren 2 BR, which is also generating buzz.
Meanwhile, at Beretta USA, resources are being invested in cricket farming... |
I will acquire a Bren S2 soon...good looking platform. Plus Hungary just adopted it...so have to have it.

I called a while back and they said for that kind of chop they'll just leave the gas ports alone. I hope it isn't too gassy. I want the EPC device bad. Also I've got this crazy idea to mill off the grenade launcher attachment section and mill in Mlok slots down there. Thoughts? View Quote Hey, how did the chop work? I might get an ARX and chop it to 13 or 14". Only for aesthetics. |

So, what is the general consensus on these? Worth getting? The price at Academy is super tempting

Where are you guys finding these the cheapest?
Academy doesn’t let you order them on line unfortunately. |

I filed down the A2 grip...best mod bar none outside of the cheek piece for the ARX...solves my grip issues. To do it right...it took me a good 2 hours of filing and sanding it perfect to my liking.

Still hard to imagine why they didn't think the .308 was worth bringing to this market when FN has been the only modern offering.

Has anyone filed off the shell deflector on the side opposite their ejection? I have the charging handle on the left side and the rifle ejecting to the right, and I'm sick of busting my knuckles on the deflector when I charge the rifle.
