Which of the following would you take into combat (if given the choice) and why?  Also which has the best supportablility (i.e. parts availibility)?

FAL
M1A1
AR-10
HK 91-G3

FAL....

because an FAL is to an AK as an AR10 is to a Californian AR15...

but seriously....

the FAL has an adjustable gas system, cheap parts, cheap mags, and is more than accurate enough for battle-esque environments.

the M1A is next in line

then the HK, parts are harder to come by...BUT...they're built like tanks so you won't need any!

then the .... yeah that one.

M1A  SA inc receiver, all GI parts including barrel and it will be good to go.  Mine is all TRW.  Use USGI mags only and it will serve you well.  FRED is right on this one!Billy

Why is AR-15 not listed?
That is my first choice....if only from the group above, then the FAL.

HK G3 ,closely followed by the FAL.

The M1A is a fine rifle ,and most are more accurate
than the other 2 .
Until you heat up all 3.Really heat them up.
That's when the G3 shines.

There's quite a few reasons why foreign countries
chose the HK or the FAL instead. We chose the M1A
because it was made here .An American rifle, with little
retooling needed.

Of the HK and FAL,
the FAL came first, and over 100 countries adopted it as their
MBR.
The HK-G3 came out years afterward.
Around half of the countries that originally adopted the FAL
switched to the HK G3 and ditched the FAL.

That means half of those countries thought it was worth the $$$$
to switch over their armed forces to the HK,and half did not.

We all know that the FAL can be equipped with a last shot bolt catch,
and the HK can not.
Most consider this the largest + of the FAL.

Almost half of those countries that kept the FAL ,disabled
the last shot bolt catch because of dependability issues .

The AR-10 is not even a consideration for me.What parts ? Where ?

I have always figured;
The AR15 is the best is I have to carry it a lot and fire the rifle very little. (it easy to Carry)
The FAL if I have to fire the rifle it a lot. (if you are using it, 7.62 makes me feel better)

A Big +1 to the FAL

I'd take the M14, but alot of that has to do with how it fits me also. The G3 would be my next choice, but there is no real advantage over the M14 on heat concerns that would matter. Both run extremely well all through hundreds of rounds down the barrel in a short amount of time. Both are accurate and both reliable, but the M14 in particular setups is more durable to me and faster on mag changes. The G3 has more durable mags though and smartly uses chrome plated followers. The Fal is a superb weapon, but doesn't fit me as well. I'll never run another M16/AR gas system again if I have a choice so the AR10 is no choice.
Give me this and I'll take all the bunkers you want, knock down choice targets are all day and night, and fight till the battle is finished.
