Best way to get one is to go around to the local pawn shops and gun shops and find a beat up hunting rifle. Many times you can get them for less that $300. Doesn't have to be in the same caliber either, just have the same boltface diameter. After you dissassemble it you can sell the parts you don't need to earn back some of the purchase price.

Done that a bunch of times. Ask if they have any beaters that don't work. I've hit a few deals that way.
All you want is the action anyway. I hit a Win 70 for $100 and a Rem 700 for $150 that way. |
