I understand that Remington has now dropped the whole J-Lock program .. I see new '06 models without it.

I have an '04 rifle with the J-Lock, can a bolt be rebuilt to exclude the J-Lock?  Has Remington offered this service?

You can buy replacement shrouds from Midway that don't have the J-lock. It's a simple swap.

Brownells also has the replacement shrouds.

Holland Guns and Shooters Supply is another option. I have no experience with their bolt shroud replacement, nor anyone else's.
