Been a while since I fired both. My memory is that the felt recoil was similar and if anything the .40 was more of a push and the 9mm more of a sharp.

Anyone comment. Looking for a choice for a lady for better control.

I don't have both just a G27 but i gotta say its kindof at the edge of controllable recoil for me. I'm not particularly recoil sensitive and usually hardly notice the difference between a 9/40/45 but i gotta think that the G26 would be easier to shoot in the subcompact category.

I'm not one to think that ladies can't handle recoil as well as guys. IMO recoil is something you just get used to with lots of practice. But i would at least advise her to try out a G27 before buying it.

have a G26, and shot a G27 recently, get the G26......it's all she needs...

I confess, for my age, I'm a pretty big guy. So, what I'm about to say may not apply to everyone.

What I noticed is that the G27 had a much smoother recoil than my Beretta 96 in the same caliber. I found it a nice little gun, but I'm not as big a fan of Glocks as I am Beretta's and 1911's. With practice, either would work just fine.

What were your perceived differences in recoil? You know when a gal gets a gun, the guy gets to shoot it too. I have no problems with the 27 but if the 26 was softer, it may be the choice. What do you think the difference was or was it hard to tell?

27 has a bit sharper recoil, IMO. Slide speed is certainly faster too.

I've got a G26, but I've shoot a G27, and a Beretta 96(40S&W), and the 40s definitely have more recoil. The 40S&W is a high pressure round similar to the 9mmPara, but it has much heavier bullet.
