IIRC the cutoff was around 68,000.

I could be mistaken though.

When I bought mine, I called Springfield Armory to find out. They said there was no specific number that signified pre/post ban. They said that you had to give them the complete number, and they would tell you. I also have a 89XXX made March of 1995. Sounds like yours is definitely a low number.

Thanks guys,It looks like this one has a realy low ser# 0230xx...We can get it W/11 USGI mags 2 extra bolts, along with a grenade launcher sight,2 butstock cleaning kits, and an new in bag M14 BiPod for $1060..The Rifle is about 95% condition. My worry was that it has a abayo lug/FH and I wasn't sure if it was a PreBan..The stock has the cut out for the selector(M14)The guy said he has had it since around 1986...I didnt know if they made them that early....Thanks again...Fred

?????? They made them during the Korean War!

Your penance is to recite 3 Hail Marys and send all the info on this rifle and seller to me! If you study your M14/M1A history really hard I might sell the rifle to you.......... later............ maybe.

buy it..................NOW

preban or not, hell you're stealing it, if it's in as good a condition as you say with the accessories, and if he had it since 1985......of course it's preban, hell if you can't verify the ser#, see if he has the receipt..
