Aside from a new gas tube and hand guards, how difficult is it to swap from a 20 to a 16 inch barrel.

5 minutes if you have the right tools.  For get all of the torque junk when putting the barrel on.  It is pretty simple.

What gijohnny said.  Also, FWIW, I've done two of them with a Workmate in lieu of the vice.  No Problems!
