Alright,

I've found a stock I like but it doesn't appear to come with the sling mount.

On the M1A/M14 how does the rear one attach?

The front appears to be riveted to the stock.

If I replace the existing stock how would I go about it? I don't have a rivet gun at the moment.

Would I need to buy a junk stock from, say, Fred's M14 stocks if I don't want to tear up my existing stock? or is there a place that sells the sling mounts?

Thanks in advance.

www.fulton-armory.com/ has the needed parts. Rear sling mt is held on by lower buttplate screw. You don't need rivet gun to attach fw mt. I use a rivet set held in a vice and a punch I ground to spread the hollow rivets. I also use 10-32 button head allen screw with missile nuts (I like these better than the rivets).
