The threads on the M249 and Mk46 barrels have a left-hand thread... That flash hider wont fit the (right-hand) threads on an M16, AR, etc.

Why lh threads?
Why different than M16 fs? Which is more effective? I think the M16 works very well - especially on 20" rifles. TIA |

They use left-hand threads because the rifling has a right-hand twist. On a full-auto fire, the entire weapon is repeatedly twisting to the left in recoil and a suppressor with right-hand threads would gradually loosen and fall off. This way the thing gets tighter, if anything.
