I believe the process involves welding some extraneous items (trunion and some other stuff) to the receiver section. When I had the UZI urge I just bought a crappy non-functional Norinco that had been a re-processed IMI UZI. I replaced all of the defective parts and eventually ended up with a working UZI.
I later traded it for... guess what... another AR. In short, the process is pretty involved if you don't know how to weld. |

The other problem is that the parts-kits are all for open-bolt SMGs, which are illegal to build. The price for buying the parts to make it a (post-ban) closed-bolt gun would make the costs the same as buying a real, pre-ban Uzi.
