You want 30-'06 Military ball ammo.  Often commercial ammo is loaded to significantly higher pressures than GI equivalent.
Stick to GI ball until and unless you are certain that the prospective commercial ammo is loaded to GI specs; and by this I mean all specs, not merely projectile weight.

If reloading, use CCI MILITARY primers, 150 gn bullets, and IMR 4895 powder.  Chronograph  reloaded rds to dupe mil specs, and you're OK.  You should first chrono some USGI ball fron your gun to establish a baseline.

Use Mil brass if possible.

Its outward appearance is mil-spec.  Unfortunately, that proves nothing.  E-mail the vendor or Mfr and ask for details, especially muzzle velocity.

Even that is not enough, as the M1 requires a certain range of powders to yield a specific pressure at the gas port.
Too much/too little or too soon/too late are NG.

Only if the vendor and mfr certify that the round meets USGI specs would I shoot same in an
M1.  And I'd chrono to verify.
Paraniod?  Maybe.
I've seen a few M1's damaged by using non-milspec ammo.  And given the increase of their numbers, IMHO it's only a matter of time before someone's hurt.

Two solutions to this problem are reloading and/or re-barreling to 7.62/.308.
