Would you trade this CMP SA Garand for this FAL?
Garand is a SA, bbl # 1-S-A-8-44
Trigger group is a forged Winnie.
Rifle was made in 1942. Rifleing is average, accuracy is above average. Stock has dings, typical CMP.

The Century STG-58 on Imbel was cut to 16.5" and has a DSA brake installed. It has been debugged & headspaced properly & has the requiste number of US parts.

Slacker, Money wise you probably will come out on the short end, however if you just gotta have a FAL......?

Of course it's totally up to you , but I would definatly keep the garand. May be more expensive to shoot but that gun has history, just hold it and think what that gun, and some GI that became very good freinds with that rifle went thru helping preserve our freedom!!Kinda Cool!

Keep the Garand. The Garands will eventually dry up and Century does not make the greatest FALs, even if it's debugged.

Keep the Garand. No insult to FAL owners (I myself own one) but FALs are easy to come by or build, a CMP Garand is not in my neck of the woods.

The M1 cost about $525.00 from CMP today.

What does a Century STG58 on Imbel receiver run right now?

I would never sell a Garand. That would be a nice one for the kids someday. The history is just not there with the FAL.

Hell No!!! Not in a million years would I trade a Garand for anything with Century Stamped on The Side.

They are not exactly rare. CMP will sell you up to 7 a year now. We only bought four.

No more IMBEL receivers are being imported, ever.

I would keep the Garand without even thinking about it. The CMP 1903 Springfields are sold out and the Garands will dry up one day also. And as mentioned it is a weapon that changed the course of history. While FAL's are very cool, I don't think Century has a very good reputation according to many opinions posted here by owners of the Century FAL.

While the IMBEL is a great receiver, I think the DSA receivers are as good or better.

While there still are Garands coming out of the CMP, it's a piece of history.

With DSA as prolific as they are, you can always get a good FAL receiver.  Sure, IMBELs aren't made anymore... but when have you heard of someone getting sentimental for a FAL?
