Well, today I went out with a buddy of mine. We shoot at 2lt Pepsi bottles filled with water, they exploded quite well. I also brought along some of my kids old stuffed animals, these are fun to shoot and watch the stuffing fly outa them.

I go home (Maine) for deer season.
My dad has a garden every year and he saves the pumkins and squash that he doesn't want. We bring all the veggies to the gravel pit and blast em. Biodegradable targets... I also shoot pin matches every wed night. Took 3rd place wed before last. (still got a big head!) |

My buddy had a real old van and boat that had been left on the farm he bought by the previous owners. Their kids still lived in the area so he let them sit out behind his barn for over a year. We had to walk by them to hunt his back tree lot-I BEGGED him to let me shoot 'em-no go
 I'm getting a little bored with paper, too. I am thinking about 2l water plastic soda bottles-or even the 20 oz ones. I thought about ballons, but anchoring them seems like it would be a pain. |

Ice It explodes when you hit it. You just have to carry an cooler to the range. I have an old junk freezer making targets no stop.

I like clay targets myself. Easy to set up, and fun to break. And CHEAP!!!

P.S. Just make sure you tell everone else at the range ; or they will think it's glass and that's a big no no. Never shoot glass.

We shoot cheap paper plates. clay birds and rocks.. At 50 yards and further the rocks are "visual" and there's no cleanup..

OK, Ok I confess!!! I put the hole in the Ozone Layer.
About fifteen years ago I worked in an autoparts store. I could purchase one-pound cans of Freon (R-12) for about $.70. I would them take them to the range and shoot them. If you hit them with a 30-30 they would go "pop" and release a cloud of white vapor about three feet in diameter. If you ticked the bottom edge with a .22 Long Rifle they would go "FFFFFFFFFPT" and spiral upwards into the air spraying vapor in a spiral pattern. I didn't know it was bad for the environment. I also didn't know that the same R12 would sell for about $12.00/pound today. It was foolish, but a lot of fun! |

Charcoal Briquettes are a good reactive target, I also like shooting Oranges and Apples.

Lately I have been shooting at clay pigions, but next time I going to by the cheapest case of pop I can and then shake them up and put them out at 100 yards and watch them explode as I pick them off.

Last weekend, my dad and I noticed a larger than average mouse and rat population at the county dump. We returned later with our Rossi pumps and a brick of .22 shorts. I don't know exactly how many vermin we dispatched (over 100), but it was the best "range day" I've ever had! It's funny how a pump .22 can be point shot more accurately than the gun is capable of from a bench. Weird and oft repeated!

i like to get a huge back of pouder concret because when you shoot it, it blows out tons of dust. it lasts for a long time. i found 1/3 of a back and used it the whole time!

Alot of the trash from my fiend's dumpster ends up at out range.
So far this year we shot a microwave, a stereo, and a TV set. We are, of course, careful to pick up any glass shards. After Star Wars I came out, Pizza Hut was putting Jar Jar Binks on all it's pizza boxes. Guess what happened to them! |

Dont waist your time on propane tanks (used for lanterns and camping stoves)with a flair taped to the side. You will most likely be dissapionted.

I only got the above turnout when I used my 7mm mag. The 5.56 rounds didn't cause such a violent reaction. And NO it doesn't make sense.

Even before AOL proved they were anti-gun, I despised their service and went with MSN (OK, only a little better) but not only does AOL call me about twice a week, but I'm sure they could lower their rates if they'd quit sending me those 750 and 1000 free hours CDs. They make GREAT targets. Other than those, I use Ayatollah Khomeni targets I print myself, as well as the targets you can print off the Remington website.

Not that I would recommend anyone else try this....
1) Buy a case of cheap malt liquor, such as King Cobra. 2) Drink about two ounces out of the first bottle, it tastes so bad that you will dump the rest of it on the ground 3) Place the remaining 23 bottles of King Cobra in the trunk of a '68 Torino GT fastback for two years (through two really hot summers) 4) Remove bottles from trunk 5) Shake 6) Shoot 7) Instant exploding targets!!! Tannerite has got nothing on these, although I am sure that it smells better *Disclaimer. I don't recommend doing this, just thought I would share a stupid story from my high school years. |

Those little plastic containers that Kool-Aid comes in. Fill'em with water, freeze 'em. They "explode" nicely when hit with 7.62x54.
Also alot of leftover stuff from the jobsite. A 5 gallon bucket of sheetrock mud does real nice when hit with 7.63x39,.223 just kinda drills right thru. (Make sure you either spread out a BIG piece of plastic or you have a shovel to clean up the mess )

12Ga. hulls make good targets. Where I shoot almost nobody picks up their brass, so there is usually plenty of them.
