Bad things I've noticed:
Colt: over priced Bushmaster: quality control down a bit, more and more reports of Barrel indexing errors, but an easy fix. Oly: some forged and some cast recievers. Make sure you know which one you are getting RRA: Rail out of spec. Mods necessarry when mounting optics. |

Buy Colt, at least you can resell it for what you paid for it.

An honest opinion from someone who's first AR was a preban is to get yourself a Bushmaster flat top m4gery. Should cost between $800 and $900 and you will love it. That should get you a rifle that won't give you any trouble that you can learn on, then experiment with different stuff. I don't buy the "go with a Colt to keep it's value" mantra cause i never sell my guns! Like I said, just my opinion and like assholes everybody's got 'em... |

The only recently manufactured rifle I have seen is a couple by Oly. They were flawless. Everything perfect and 100% function from day one. These were their top-of-the-line rifles--PCR-1--at about $1200 each, but they are just scrumptious. All the makers produce good rifles, with a few lemons that are usually quickly fixed. Oh, I did see a 2002 LEGP by DPMS and it is beautiful too. You might check it out, as it is a "special" rifle that helps support this site a little bit. It has its own forum above this one. Welcome to the madness!!

I thought the current production of RRA uppers now have the same rail spec as all other manufacturers. Could someone clarify this. I bought a RRA M4 upper based on this new info.
